Overview

This document serves as a quick reference guide for a dishwasher, providing essential information for its setup, operation, and maintenance. It is designed to help users get started with their appliance and troubleshoot common issues.

Function Description

The dishwasher is designed to clean tableware efficiently. It features various programmes tailored for different cleaning needs, from intensive cleaning for heavily soiled items to quick washes and a quiet "Silence" programme for nighttime operation. The appliance integrates with the Home Connect app, allowing users to conveniently manage settings and monitor the dishwasher remotely. Key functions include automatic detergent dispensing, a water softening system to optimize cleaning performance based on water hardness, and a rinse aid system to ensure streak-free drying. The machine also includes a self-cleaning "Machine Care" programme to maintain internal hygiene.

Usage Features

Initial Setup: Before first use, users are guided to install the Home Connect app and scan a QR code to connect their mobile device to the appliance. This enables remote control and access to settings. The water softening system needs to be configured based on the local water hardness. The guide provides a table of water hardness ranges (Soft, Medium, Hard) and corresponding settings (H00-H07). To set this, users press the power button, then hold "Setup 3 sec." for three seconds until "Hxx" and "set" appear on the display, then repeatedly press "Start" to select the correct hardness, and finally hold "Setup 3 sec." again to save.

Adding Consumables:

  • Special Salt: Special salt is crucial for the water softening system. It should be added to the dispenser just before a programme starts to prevent damage. To add salt, unscrew the lid of the dispenser, fill it with water on initial start-up, then add special salt until the dispenser is full. The water will be displaced. Detergent should never be added to the salt dispenser. The lid is then replaced and turned to close.
  • Rinse Aid: Rinse aid ensures streak-free drying. To add rinse aid, press the catch on the lid of the dispenser and lift it. Fill rinse aid up to the "max" mark, then close the lid until it clicks into position.
  • Detergent: Detergent is added to the dry detergent dispenser. The guide shows markings for 15ml, 25ml, and 50ml to help with correct dosing. After adding, the lid of the dispenser is closed until it clicks into position.

Operating the Appliance:

  1. Loading Tableware: Load only dishwasher-safe items, ensuring large food remnants are removed. Check that the spray arms can rotate freely without obstruction.
  2. Adding Detergent: Add the appropriate amount of detergent.
  3. Switching On: Turn on the appliance.
  4. Selecting a Programme: Choose a programme from the available options:
    • Intensive 70°: For heavily soiled items.
    • Auto 45-65°: Automatically adjusts cleaning based on soil level.
    • Eco 50°: An energy-efficient programme.
    • Silence 50°: A quiet programme, ideal for nighttime.
    • Express 65° - 1h: A quicker wash.
    • Machine Care: For cleaning the appliance itself.
    • Favourite: Allows saving a custom programme. Programme data, including duration, energy consumption, and water usage, are provided for each option.
  5. Starting the Programme: Press the "Start" button.
  6. Unloading Tableware: Remove items once the programme is complete.
  7. Cancelling a Programme: To cancel, press "Reset 4 sec." for approximately 4 seconds. The programme will cancel and end after about 1 minute.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the dishwasher's performance and longevity.

Cleaning Filters: The filter system should be checked for residue after each wash.

  1. Turn the coarse filter anticlockwise and remove the filter system.
  2. Pull down the micro filter to remove it.
  3. Press the locking catches together and lift out the coarse filter.
  4. Clean all filter elements under running water.
  5. Re-assemble the filter system, ensuring the arrow markings match up when inserting it back into the appliance and turning the coarse filter clockwise.

Cleaning Spray Arms: The spray arms can become blocked, affecting cleaning performance.

  1. Unscrew the upper spray arms and pull them down to remove.
  2. Pull up the lower spray arm to remove.
  3. Check the outlet nozzles on both spray arms for blockages and remove any foreign bodies under running water.
  4. Insert the lower spray arm until it clicks into position.
  5. Insert the upper spray arms and screw them firmly in place.

Cleaning Wastewater Pump: If the wastewater pump is blocked, it needs to be cleaned.

  1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
  2. Remove the filter system.
  3. Scoop out any water.
  4. Prise off the pump cover using a spoon and grip it by the crosspiece.
  5. Lift the pump cover inwards at an angle and remove.
  6. Remove any food remnants and foreign bodies from the impeller area.
  7. Insert the pump cover and press it down until it clicks into position.
  8. Install the filter system.

Troubleshooting: The guide includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section for common issues:

  • Water Supply Issues (E:32-00, water supply indicator): This could be due to a kinked supply hose, a turned-off or jammed water tap, or blocked filters in the water connection. Solutions involve checking and correcting these issues, including cleaning the filter in the supply hose.
  • Cleaning Performance Issues (E:92-40, E:61-02, food remnants): These can be caused by soiled or blocked filters, a blocked wastewater pump, a loose wastewater pump cover, improperly loaded tableware, blocked spray arm rotation or nozzles, or incorrect filter insertion. Solutions include cleaning filters and spray arms, securing the pump cover, and rearranging tableware.
  • Drying/Appearance Issues (streaks, rust spots): Removable streaks on glassware may indicate too much rinse aid, while rust spots on cutlery suggest non-rust-resistant items or washing with rusting items. Solutions involve adjusting rinse aid settings or using appropriate tableware.
  • Detergent Residue: This can occur if spray arms are blocked by tableware, preventing detergent from rinsing out. Checking spray arm rotation is recommended.
  • Appliance Malfunction (LEDs flashing/not continuing): If all LEDs light up or flash, it indicates an electronic fault. The solution is to press the main switch button for approximately 4 seconds to reset and restart the appliance.
