Overview

This document describes the Braun cruZer2 Z40 electric shaver, a product designed for quality, functionality, and reliability, aiming to provide a satisfactory shaving experience.

Function Description

The Braun cruZer2 Z40 is an electric shaver equipped with an integrated low-voltage power supply, designed for both shaving and styling. It features a floating foil frame that automatically adapts to the skin's contours for a close and smooth shave. The device includes a rotating styler (4) with two different shaper sizes: a wide shaper (4a) for trimming larger areas and a narrow shaper (4b) for precise contouring.

Usage Features

Charging: The shaver operates on rechargeable batteries. For optimal performance, it should be charged within an environmental temperature range of 15 °C to 35 °C, avoiding temperatures above 50 °C for extended periods. To charge, connect the shaver to an electrical outlet using the special cord set (7), ensuring the motor is switched off. For the first charge or after several months of disuse, a continuous 4-hour charge is recommended. The charging light (5) indicates that the appliance is charging; it turns off when fully charged. Intermittent blinking suggests the battery is maintaining its full capacity or is recharging after being completely discharged. A full charge provides approximately 30 minutes of cordless shaving, which may vary depending on beard growth. Subsequent charges typically take about 1 hour. Maximum battery capacity is achieved after several charging/discharging cycles. If the rechargeable batteries are discharged, the shaver can also be used by connecting it to an electrical outlet via the special cord set. To maintain battery capacity, it's recommended to fully discharge the shaver every 6 months through normal use, then fully recharge it.

Shaving: Before shaving, remove the foil protection cap (1) and activate the on/off switch (6). For best results, shave before washing your face. Hold the shaver at a 90° angle to the skin (b). Stretch the skin and shave against the direction of hair growth. If you haven't shaved for a few days, use the wide shaper (4a) first to pre-cut longer hairs, then finish with the shaver foil for a close shave.

Using the Rotating Styler (4): The rotating styler offers versatility for grooming.

  • Wide Shaper (4a): This 28mm shaper is ideal for evenly cutting and trimming larger areas, such as sideburns, moustaches, and partial short beards (c). It features safety rips and a gliding strip to reduce irritation and facilitate smooth movement. To use, press the green stripes to push up the styler. While stretching the skin, guide the wide shaper against the direction of hair growth.
  • Narrow Shaper (4b): This 14mm shaper is designed for precise contouring, allowing you to define lines and edges (d). To activate, push up the styler and then turn it 180°. Frequent use of the styler (4) may reduce the battery's overall capacity.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining optimal shaving performance. The shaver can be cleaned under an open water tap, but it's important to detach it from the power supply before doing so.

  • Rinsing: After each shave, switch the shaver on (cordless) and rinse the shaving head under hot running water (e). A natural-based soap without particles or abrasive substances can also be used. Rinse off all foam and let the shaver run for a few more seconds.
  • Drying: After rinsing, switch off the shaver, remove the shaver foil (2) and cutter block (3), and allow the disassembled parts to dry.
  • Oiling: If you regularly clean the shaver with water, apply a drop of light machine oil (g) onto the long hair trimmer and shaver foil once a week.
  • Brush Cleaning (f): Alternatively, use the provided small brush for cleaning. Switch off the shaver and remove the shaver foil. Use the brush to clean the cutter block and the inner area of the shaver head. Do not clean the shaver foil with the brush, as this may damage it.

Replacing Shaving Parts: To ensure 100% shaving performance and minimize skin irritation, the shaver foil (2) and cutter block (3) should be replaced approximately every 18 months, or sooner if they show signs of wear. It is recommended to replace both parts at the same time. The replacement part number for the shaver foil and cutter block is 20R.

Preserving Batteries: To maintain the optimal capacity of the rechargeable batteries, the shaver should be fully discharged (by shaving) approximately every 6 months, and then fully recharged.

Environmental Disposal: This product contains rechargeable batteries. To protect the environment, do not dispose of the product with household waste at the end of its useful life. Disposal should occur at a Braun Service Centre or designated collection points in your country. The built-in rechargeable battery contains substances that may pollute the environment. Before discarding the shaver, remove the battery and ensure it is completely discharged. If you prefer not to disassemble the device yourself, you can take the shaver to a Braun Service Centre, where staff will assist with battery removal and environmentally friendly disposal. Do not disassemble the removed rechargeable battery, as this may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
