Connect
the
accelerometer
lead
to
the
integrator
and
set
to
the
quantity
which
is
to
be
measured,
e. g.
acceleration,
velocity
or
displacement.
3.
Read
the
vibration
level
in
dB
(sound
level)
on
the
indicating
instrument.
4.
Set
the
slide
rule
to
the
correct
accelerometer
sensitivity
in
mV RMS/g
RMS.
5.
Set
the
cursor
to
the
number
of
dB
read
on
the
meter
and
read
off
the
corresponding
RMS
acceleration,
velocity
or
displacement.
The
peak
value
may
be
read
only
in
the
case
of
sinusoidal
vibration.
Note
that
the
slide
rule
can
not
be
used
for
conversion
of
for
example
acceleration
to
velocity.
Each
scale
must
only
be
used
in
connection
with
the
appropriate
setting
of
"Acceleration",
"Velocity"
or
"Displacement"
on
the
Integrator.
The
slide
rule
for
the
Integrator
is
shown
in
Fig.
4.5,
where
it
is
set
to
an
accelerometer
sensitivity
of
50 mV/g.
With
the
integrator
set
to
"Velocity"
a
reading
on
the
Sound
Level
Meter
of
60
dB gives a
value
of
about
8.7 X 1&-3
meter/sec
for
the
vibration
velocity.
