AC
Recording
Calibration
settings
The
correct
reference
deflection
"C"
should be
obtained
automatically
with
sufficient
accuracy
(if a Pistonphone
or
Sound Level
Calibrator
is used,
it
must
first
be set
to
"On"). If not,
it
may
be due
to
an inaccurate
calibration
of
the Sound Level
Meter
or
of
the Level Recorder.
Check
and
correct
if necessary
the
Sound Level
Meter
calibration
(see
section
3.4). If the
inaccuracy
is due to the Level Recorder, select a COARSE
SENSITIVITY
of
"1
00
mV"
and adjust the FINE SENSITIVITY until the pen settles
at
the
correct
reference
position
below
full scale on paper.
To
increase the
calibration
accuracy, the "Reduced" PEN SPEED
may
be used
during
the
calibration
procedure.
Remember
to return to
"Normal"
PEN SPEED
before
proceeding
to record measurements.
By using the "316
mV"
setting full scale
deflection
on
paper
corresponds
to
full scale
deflection
on the Sound Level Meter minus 10 dB. The
recording
span can be
shifted
(for
example
from
50-100 dB
to
40-90 dB) by changing the COARSE SENSITIVITY setting (in
the
example
from
"316 V"
to
"1
00 mV"). Changing the FSD
setting
on the Sound Level
Meter
shifts the full scale on
paper
by the same amount.
