Introduction
1.1 About This Manual
This Instruction Manual supplements User Guide BE 1695– 11. This manual and the User Guide together
comprise the full documentation of Type 2240 as required by IEC 61672 – 1, as well as the earlier
standards IEC 60651 and IEC 60804.
The User Guide provides all the information necessary for operating Type 2240, descriptions of the
measured quantities, and general advice as to proper measurement practices. The User Guide also
contains the technical specifications that are most likely to be of practical use when making standard
sound-level measurements. This information is not repeated in this manual, except for the specifications,
which are given in full here. In the event of any unintended inconsistency between the User Guide and
the Instruction Manual, this manual takes precedence.
