Accessories
Nose Cone UA 0053.
When
measurements
are
taken
in
locations
where
the
microphone
cartridge
is
subjected
to
high
speed
airflows,
it
may
be
useful
to
mount
a
Nose
Cone
instead
of
the
normal
protecting
grid.
The
diaphragm
will
then
be
fully
protected
against
eventual
hard
particles
carried
by
the
air
stream
and
a
reduction
of
the
turbulence
noise
will
be
obtained
in
most
case
•s.
The
presence
of
the
Nose
Cone
will
only
modify
the
free-field
re
.
sponse
above
20
kHz.
It
is
furthermore
noticed
by
comparing
the
characteristics
of
Fig.
2.2
with
Fig.
1.3
or
Fig.
1.15
that
the
Nose
Cone
improves
the
omnidirectivity
of
the
microphone.
