1.12 Mechanical Spare Parts
Mechanical spare parts can be ordered from Brüel&Kjær. See section 3.5 for availa-
ble parts and part numbers.
1.13 Repair
1.13.1 Types of Repair
● Repair of cold joints
● Replacement/Resoldering of wires to/from connectors
● Replacement of flexible cables (spare part)
● Replacement of spare parts
● Replacement of FRPs
1.13.2 Replacement of Entire Unit as FRP
● When you have received the replacement, exchange the red replacement bottom
shell with the customer’s original bottom shell (with the Serial Number).
● Remove the Octave Filter Set from the customer’s unit, if applicable, and install in
the replacement.
● Check that the replacement software matches what the customer should have,
and reload any necessary software from the customer’s diskettes.
● Run the Checking Procedure. See section 2.3.
● Run the Initial Calibration. See section 2.3.12.
1.13.3 Special Tools and Equipment
To perform the complete checking procedure, troubleshooting, adjustment and up-
grade of Type 2238, the following special tools and equipment must be available:
Type 1049/51 Sine Generator or equivalent
Type 4226 Multifunction Acoustic Calibrator or Type 4231 Sound Level
Calibrator
AO0403 LEMO to BNC
AO1386 or 9-pin cable including 25–pin adaptor
