Adjustment of a Chamber on the D8
40 DOC-M88-EXX268_V1_12.2016
Figure4.3: Insert a deflection angle in CONFIGURATION for the temperature stage
1. Determine the ZI-value (figure ) and insert it as a deflection angle in
CONFIGURATION | Basic instrument information | Device | Goniometer | Center |
PAAR_Z_HTK1200 for the temperature stage (see figure Rocking curve to check
chamber rotation error [}38] above).
2. Save the configuration and activate it.
3. Repeat steps Performing a rocking curve and Rotation alignment by introducing
a software offset to check if the deviation is within the range of 0°±0.02°.
4. Repeat step Height check for a final height check.
4.1.2 Alternative Procedure Without Alignment Slit
This method is less exact compared to the first one but more universal if no alignment slit
is available. It is important that the diffractometer is well aligned, i.e. tube/theta and detec-
tor in line at 0° position.
For correcting the chamber rotation, only the method for inserting a deflection angle in the
software is described here. If you want to rotate the chamber mechanically, follow the in-
structions below up to the point “Perform a rocking curve scan”, and continue with sub-
chapter Adjustment Procedure with Alignment Slit [} 38] in the previous chapter. The
alignment criterion specified in point 3 can then be relaxed to 0°±0.05°.
