Compass Calibration
While calibrating the compass, do
not operate any power switches.
For example, opening or closing
the windows or sunroof, moving
the seats, adjusting the climate
controls or other power features
will interfere with compass calibra-
tion.
To calibrate the compass, do the
following:
1. Drive to a flat, open area, like
a large, empty parking lot.
You need to be able to drive
safely in circles. Be sure the
place is away from power lines
or large metal buildings.
2. Make sure the compass is set
to the correct variance zone.
See "Compass Variance" later
in this section for more infor-
mation.
3. Press repeatedly until
PRESS TO CALIBRATE
COMPASS is displayed.
4. Press the button to start
calibrating the compass.
CALIBRATING DRIVE IN
CIRCLES will appear on the
display.
5. Drive your vehicle in tight
360° circles at a speed of
8 km/h (5 mph) or less until
CALIBRATION COMPLETE
appears on the display for a
few seconds.
When the compass is calibrated,
the system will return to the previ-
ous menu.
