Overview

This document provides an instruction manual for the "Y Pro" car dashboard, designed for the Patrol Y62 vehicle. It covers the product overview, key operations, system and MCU upgrade procedures, and installation steps.

Function Description

The Y Pro is a replacement car dashboard for the Patrol Y62, offering an enhanced display and additional features compared to the original meter. Its primary function is to provide essential vehicle information to the driver through a digital interface. The dashboard integrates various indicators and meters, including:

  • Coolant & Battery indicators: To monitor the engine's coolant temperature and the vehicle's battery status.
  • Trouble indicator light: To alert the driver of any system malfunctions or issues.
  • Display: The main screen for presenting information.
  • Oil meter & Oil pressure: To show the engine oil level and pressure.

The device is designed to be user-friendly, with redefined keys for manipulating its features. It allows users to switch between main interfaces and widgets, access setting windows, and perform system resets.

Important Technical Specifications

While specific detailed technical specifications like processor type, RAM, or screen resolution are not explicitly listed, the manual provides information regarding storage and file formats for system upgrades:

  • U Disk Capacity: Supports 8GB or 16GB.
  • U Disk File Format: FAT32.
  • U Disk Unit: 32KB.

These specifications are crucial for preparing a USB disk for system and MCU (Microcontroller Unit) upgrades, ensuring compatibility and proper functioning of the upgrade process.

Usage Features

The Y Pro dashboard offers several usage features designed to enhance the driving experience and ease of interaction:

  • Key Operation Introduction:

    • Redefined Keys (A and B): These keys are used to manipulate the Y Pro's features.
    • Key A:
      • Pressing A switches the main interface.
      • Holding A pops up the "setting window," allowing users to configure various parameters such as alert settings (e.g., timer alert setting).
      • During system upgrade, long pressing A is used to initiate the upgrade process and short pressing A switches to the System upgrade window.
      • During MCU upgrade, long pressing A is used to initiate the upgrade process and short pressing A switches to the UNIT upgrade window.
    • Key B:
      • Pressing B switches widgets, providing quick access to different information displays.
      • Long pressing B resets the body state.
      • Holding B locks/unlocks the current setting within the setting window.
      • During system upgrade, long pressing B locks the current window until a red frame appears, then releasing and long pressing B again initiates the system restart for upgrade.
      • During MCU upgrade, long pressing B locks the current window until a red frame appears, then releasing and long pressing B again initiates the MCU update, indicated by flashing LED panels.
  • Display Information: The dashboard displays various real-time data, including:

    • Memory (e.g., average speed, average fuel consumption, accumulated time).
    • Current time and date.
    • Current speed.
  • Synchronization: The device requires synchronization with the original car meter. This process involves connecting a sync cable between the Y Pro, the car's harness, and the original car meter. The synchronization starts automatically once connected and the engine is started.

Maintenance Features

The Y Pro manual outlines clear procedures for system and MCU maintenance through upgrades, ensuring the device remains up-to-date and functions optimally.

  • Y Pro System Upgrade:

    1. Preparation: Unzip the Carobotor_dashboard.zip file and copy the update directory and PLATFORM_CARD.mxnmcu file to a FAT32 formatted U disk (8GB/16GB, 32KB unit).
    2. Initiation: Plug the U disk into the dashboard's USB port. Long press key A, then short press A to switch to the "System upgrade" window.
    3. Execution: Long press key B to lock the current window (a red frame will appear). Release B, then long press B again. The system will restart to upgrade.
    4. Completion: Once the progress bar is full, remove the U disk. The system will restart automatically within two minutes. If it doesn't restart, pull out the key, press the lock button, and restart the vehicle after one minute.
  • Y Pro MCU Upgrade:

    1. Preparation: Similar to the system upgrade, prepare a FAT32 formatted U disk with the update directory and PLATFORM_CARD.mxnmcu file.
    2. Initiation: Plug the U disk into the dashboard's USB port. Long press key A, then short press A to switch to the "UNIT upgrade" window.
    3. Execution: Long press key B to lock the current window (a red frame will appear). Release B, then long press B again. The two LED panels on the dashboard will flash, indicating the MCU update is in progress.
    4. Completion: When the LED panels stop flashing, the MCU update is successful. Remove the U disk, lock the car for 5 minutes, then turn it off and restart.
  • Installation and Post-Installation:

    • Installation: The manual details a multi-step installation process, starting with removing the original car meter (lowering the steering wheel, pulling out the instrument cover, unplugging the harness, unscrewing and removing the meter). Then, the Y Pro is connected via its USB interface cable and car plug, and the cover is reinstalled.
    • Post-Installation Reset: After installation, it is crucial to lock the car for 5 minutes, then turn it off and restart. This step is essential for the Y Pro to properly integrate and function within the vehicle's system.

The manual emphasizes safety precautions, such as stopping the engine and keeping ACC off for at least 25 seconds before removing meters during synchronization, to prevent potential issues.
