WINTERIZATION
UNIT AND PROPERTY DAMAGE HAZARD
Failure to follow this caution may result in unit component or
property damage.
If the furnace is installed in an unconditioned space where the
ambient temperatures may be 32_ F(0_ C) or lower, freeze
protection measures must be taken to prevent minor property
or product damage.
CAUTION
!
Since the furnace uses a condensing heat exchanger, some water
will accumulate in the unit as a result of the heat transfer process.
Therefore, once it has been operated, it cannot be turned off and
left of f for an extended period of time when temperatures will
reach 32_F(0_C) or lower unless winterized. Follow these
procedures to winterize your furnace:

furnace and other property damage.
Do not use ethylene glycol (automotive antifreeze coolant or
equivalent). Failure of plastic components may occur.
CAUTION
!
1. Obtai n propylene glycol (RV/s wimming pool a nti fr eeze or
equiva lent ) .
2. T ur n of f ga s a nd elect ri ca l s uppl ie s to your furnace.
3. Rem ove furna ce contr ol door.
4. Rem ove the top unuse d rubbe r plug fr om the port on the
coll ec tor box opposi te the c ondens at e tra p. Se e Fi g 60.
5. Connect a field supplied 3/8--in. (9.5--mm) ID tube to the
open port on the col le ctor box.
6. Inse rt a field suppl ie d funne l into the tube.
7. Pour one quart (liter) of anti--freeze solution into the funne l/
tube. Antifreeze should run thr ough the induc er hous ing,
overf il l c ondens at e trap a nd flow to an open drain.
8. Repla ce the r ubbe r plug in the por t on the coll ec tor box.
9. Rem ove the mi ddle unuse d rubber plug from the port on the
coll ec tor box opposi te the c ondens at e tra p. Se e Fi g. 60.
10. Repea t Steps 5 thr ough 8.
11. If a conde nsa te pump is use d, che ck with pump ma nufa ct ure r
to verify pump is safe for use with antifreeze used. Allow
pump to start and pump anti--freeze to open drain.
12. Repla ce ma i n door.
13. Whe n furnac e is re--st arted, flus h c ondens at e pump with cle ar
water to check for proper operation before re--starting furnace.
14. Propylene glycol need not be removed before re--starting
furnace.
