With the vehicle still in neutral, continue to warm up the engine until it idles smoothly before
riding. Failure to do so may result in poor performance and premature engine wear and Vbelt
wear.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
To start a warm engine, refer to the "Starting A cold engine" section. Press the accelerator pedal
slightly.
WARMING UP
To get maximum engine life, always warm up the engine before starting. To determine if the engine
is warm, check for smooth throttle response with the vehicle in neutral.
Never accelerate hard with a cold engine.
DRIVE SELECT LEVER OPERATION AND REVERSE DRIVING
NOTICE
Do not shift without coming to a complete stop and waiting for the engine to return to normal idle
speed. Damage to the engine or drive train may occur.
