Overview

This document is a Quick Reference Guide for the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, providing an overview of its key features and functionalities. It covers the instrument panel, various controls, infotainment system, driver assistance systems, and other vehicle-specific operations.

Instrument Panel and Controls

The instrument panel features a Driver Information Center (DIC) that displays vehicle messages and system information. Controls for the DIC are located behind the steering wheel (HUD Controls) and on the right side of the steering wheel (Mid-level and Uplevel DIC Controls). The steering wheel also integrates controls for Cruise Control, Forward Collision Alert, Heated Steering Wheel, and Super Cruise. The turn signal, windshield wipers, and IntelliBeam controls are on a lever.

The center console includes controls for Power Mirror/Window, Electric Parking Brake, 4WD/Driver Mode, Exterior/Instrument Panel/Cargo Lamp, and Audio Next/Previous/Favorite Station. Power Steering Wheel Adjustment is located on the steering column, and Audio Volume Control is on the back of the steering wheel.

Infotainment System

The infotainment system features a power/volume control, home page button, and a touchscreen. It offers applications tray for shortcuts, and additional pages accessible by swiping. The system supports Bluetooth and USB connections for compatible devices, offering hands-free voice control. It can be used to manage home page icons and store favorite radio stations (AM, FM, SiriusXM).

SiriusXM with 360L

This feature provides over 200 channels of ad-free music, sports, comedy, talk, and news, along with On Demand shows. A SiriusXM subscription and Connected Access plan are required.

Google Built-In

The vehicle integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Google Assistant allows voice control for directions, media, and vehicle functions. Google Maps offers real-time traffic information and rerouting. Google Play enables downloading apps like Spotify and iHeart Radio. Internet connectivity and a data plan are required for downloading and using apps.

Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™

These systems allow integration with compatible smartphones. Apple CarPlay does not require an app download, while Android Auto requires its app from the Google Play Store. Connection can be wireless (via Bluetooth) or wired (via USB data port).

Bluetooth® System

The Bluetooth system allows pairing up to two phones. The first paired phone connects automatically, while the second can only receive calls. Pairing requires the vehicle to be stopped.

4G LTE Wi-Fi® Hotspot

The vehicle's available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot can connect up to 7 devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops) to high-speed internet. The hotspot name and password can be retrieved via the infotainment system.

Wireless Phone Charging

Located in the center console, this system charges compatible phones wirelessly. The vehicle must be On or have Retained Accessory Power active. Objects must be removed from the charging pad, and the phone placed screen-up.

Lighting

  • Lamp Controls: A knob controls exterior lamps, including Off/On, AUTO (automatic activation based on lighting conditions), Parking Lamps, and Headlamps.
  • Fog Lamps: Button to turn fog lamps on/off.
  • Instrument Panel Brightness: Buttons to adjust instrument panel lighting.
  • Task Lighting: Button to turn forward-facing outside mirror lamps on/off.
  • Cargo Lamp: Button to turn cargo bed/hitch lamps and/or rear-facing mirror lamps on/off when the vehicle is in Park, Reverse, or Neutral.
  • IntelliBeam System: Automatically turns high-beam headlamps on/off based on traffic conditions at night when the lamp control is in AUTO or Headlamps position. Activates above 25 mph and requires fog lamps to be off.

Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter (Key Fob)

The key fob offers several functions:

  • Lock: Locks all doors and tailgate.
  • Unlock: Unlocks driver's door or all doors and tailgate.
  • Remote Windows: Press and hold Unlock to fully open windows (requires activation in settings).
  • Remote Mirror Folding: Turns automatic mirror folding on/off (requires activation in settings).
  • Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm: Press and release to locate vehicle; press and hold for alarm.
  • Power Release/Power Tailgate: Press twice to lower tailgate; press once and hold to fully close.
  • Remote Vehicle Start: Press twice to start engine remotely; press and hold to cancel.

Keyless Access System

Allows operation of doors and tailgate without removing the key fob, provided it's within 3 feet of the vehicle.

  • Keyless Unlocking: Press button on driver's or front passenger's door handle to unlock doors/tailgate. Press button on tailgate to lower standard tailgate.
  • Keyless Locking: Press button on any front door handle to lock doors/tailgate. Passive Locking can be enabled for automatic locking after a delay.

Keyless (Push-Button) Start

  • Starting the Engine/On: With transmission in Park or Neutral, press and hold brake pedal, then press ENGINE START/STOP button.
  • Stopping the Engine/Off: Shift to Park, then press ENGINE START/STOP button.
  • Accessory Mode: With engine off and brake not applied, press ENGINE START/STOP button.
  • Service Mode: Press and hold ENGINE START/STOP button for several seconds.
  • Weak Key Fob Battery: Place key fob in center storage compartment to start engine.

Auto Engine Stop/Start Operation

Automatically turns off the engine (Auto Stop) when the vehicle is at a complete stop and operating conditions are met. Engine restarts when brake is released or accelerator is pressed. Can be disabled via a button on the instrument panel.

Buckle to Drive

Prevents shifting out of Park if the driver's seat belt is not buckled. Can be turned on/off via the infotainment screen.

Electronic Precision Shift Transmission

The shift lever always returns to a center position. Selected gear illuminates in red.

  • Park (P): Press P button (A). To shift out, press brake pedal and hold shift lock button (B).
  • Reverse (R): Press brake pedal and hold shift lock button (B) while moving lever forward past detent.
  • Neutral (N): Move lever forward to detent. Vehicle will not stay in Neutral for extended periods.
  • Drive (D): Move lever rearward.
  • Low (L): With transmission in Drive, move lever rearward. Use steering wheel paddles (+/-) for upshift/downshift.

Power Front Seats

  • Set Memory Positions: Adjust seat and mirrors, then press SET button, followed by button 1 or 2. An Exit button can store a position for vehicle exit clearance.
  • Recall Memory Positions: Press and hold button 1, 2, or Exit. Automatic recall can be enabled in settings.

Driver Assistance Systems

  • Safety Alert Seat: Driver's seat pulses to alert of potential hazards. Audible alerts can be selected.
  • Forward Collision Alert: Vehicle Ahead Indicator is green when a vehicle is detected, amber when too close. Red alert flashes on windshield, and Safety Alert Seat pulses or beeps if approaching too rapidly. Alert timing can be set (Far, Medium, Near).
  • Following Distance Indicator: Displays distance to vehicle ahead in seconds on DIC.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking: Works with Forward Collision Alert to help avoid/reduce severity of front-end collisions below 50 mph.
  • Front Pedestrian Braking: Detects pedestrians directly ahead below 50 mph. Displays amber indicator, flashes red alert, and pulses Safety Alert Seat or beeps if approaching too quickly.
  • Rear Pedestrian Alert: Detects pedestrians directly behind in Reverse. Displays amber indicator, flashes red alert, and pulses Safety Alert Seat or beeps.
  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert/Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert: Displays warning symbol in side mirror when a moving vehicle is detected in the blind zone, including extended trailer blind zone. Flashes if turn signal is activated.
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning: Helps avoid unintentional lane departures by gently turning steering wheel. Indicator is green when available, amber when assisting. Alerts (flashing amber, Safety Alert Seat pulse/beep) if driver steering is not detected.
  • Front and Rear Park Assist: Provides "distance to closest object" information on DIC, and pulses Safety Alert Seat or beeps.
  • Rear Cross Traffic Braking: Warns of detected cross-traffic in Reverse and provides alerts/hard emergency braking at low speeds.

Rear Camera Mirror

Provides a wider, less-obstructed field of view.

  • On/Off: Pull/push lever at bottom of mirror.
  • Selection Control: Press button to select brightness, zoom, or tilt.
  • Adjustment Controls: Press either button to adjust selected setting.

Camera System Features

Up to 8 cameras and 14 views are available for hitching and towing.

  • Rear Vision Camera: Displays view behind vehicle in Reverse. Includes Guidance Lines/Hitch Guidance and Hitch View buttons.
  • Surround Vision: Displays high-resolution image of area around vehicle, including front and rear views. Includes Guidance Lines/Hitch Guidance and Bed View buttons.
  • Additional Trailer Camera Views: Multiple views from vehicle cameras and up to two wired Chevrolet accessory trailer cameras. Includes Rear Side View and Transparent Trailer View buttons.
  • Jack-Knife Alert: Displays warning symbol when truck/trailer angle indicates potential jack-knife, and pulses Safety Alert Seat or beeps.

Power Mirrors

  • Power Mirror Adjustment: Use Mirror Selector button to select driver or passenger side, then use four-way control pad to adjust.
  • Power Folding Mirror: Press Folding Mirror button to fold/unfold mirrors.

Locking Front and Rear Axles

Switches on instrument panel lock front and rear axles for additional traction in off-road conditions. Vehicle must be stopped to lock axles. Rear axle must be locked, and transfer case in 4LO, to lock front axle. Do not drive on pavement with axles locked.

Hill Descent Control

Maintains vehicle speed (1-14 mph) while descending steep inclines in forward or reverse gear (below 31 mph to enable). Press button on instrument panel to activate. Speed can be adjusted with accelerator, brake, or Cruise Control +/- buttons.

Truck Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Low Tire Pressure warning light illuminates when tires are underinflated. Current pressures can be viewed on DIC. Tire Fill Alert provides visual and audible alerts during inflation.

Multi-Flex Tailgate Operation

The tailgate has 6 functional positions:

  1. Primary Gate: Opens for cargo box access.
  2. Primary Gate Load Stop: Keeps longer items secure when primary gate is open.
  3. Easy Access: Inner gate folds down for easier reach into cargo box.
  4. Full-width Step: Inner gate folds into a step (up to 375 lbs.) with a handle.
  5. Inner Gate Load Stop: Keeps longer items secure for two-tier storage when primary gate is closed.
  6. Inner Gate Work Surface: Inner gate folds for two-tier storage or standing-height work surface.
  • Open Inner Gate: Press upper button (A) on tailgate.
  • Enable/Disable Inner Gate: Press and hold upper button (A) for 3 seconds.
  • Open Primary Gate: Press lower button (B) on tailgate, or press Power Tailgate button twice on key fob, or press Power Tailgate button on instrument panel.

Advanced Trailering System

  • In-Vehicle Trailering App: On infotainment screen, allows customized trailer profiles, hitching/setup checklist, trailer tire pressure/temperature monitoring, trailer light testing, Gross Combined Weight Alert, and trailer theft detection. Also available via myChevrolet mobile app.
  • Hitch Area Lighting: Press Cargo Lamp button to turn cargo bed lamp or conventional hitch lamp on/off.
  • Trailering Information Label: Located on pillar between driver and rear-passenger doors, provides vehicle-specific weight and capabilities ratings.
  • Integrated Trailer Brake Control (ITBC): Adjusts power output (Trailer Gain) to trailer brakes. Control panel on center of instrument panel. Squeeze control to manually apply brakes. Adjust Trailer Gain with +/- buttons.

Chevrolet Roadside Assistance is available for 5 years/60,000 miles. Contact 1-800-CHEV-USA (1-800-243-8872) or TTY 1-888-889-2438 for light services or towing. OnStar Safety & Security plan users can press the blue OnStar button or red Emergency button for assistance.

myChevrolet Mobile App

Downloadable app for smartphones to start/turn off engine, lock/unlock doors, view diagnostic info, and see parking location. Requires compatible device, service availability, and data plan.
