Off-Road Driving
B
efore Driving Off-road
Some items should be observed before driving
off-road. For example:
Be sure that all repair and maintenance
services have been performed.
Check the fuel level.
Check spare tyre pressure as specified in
technical data chapter.
Check fluid levels as specified in vehicle
care chapter.
After Driving Off-road
Remove all material packed in the vehicle lower
end, chassis or under the engine bonnet. This
may be a fire hazard. After driving over mud or
sand, clean and check the brake linings.
These substances may cause abnormal braking
and glazed linings. Check the body frame,
steering, suspension, wheels, tyres, exhaust
system, fuel lines and cooling system.
During use off-road, your vehicle will demand
more frequency maintenance.
Be Familiar with the Off-road Driving
B
efore starting any trip, it is advisable to
practise in an area which is safe and near
by. The off-road driving requires some new
and different abilities such as be aware of
the types of different signs. Your vision,
for example, should constantly observe the
ground for unexpected restrictions. Try to hear
uncommon noises from tyres and engine.
Your arms, feet and body should answer to
the vibrations and motion coming from the
vehicle. The vehicle control is the main factor of
good off-road drive. A better way to control the
vehicle is to control the speed. There are some
points that must be observed. At high speeds:
You get closer to objects more quickly
and have less time to observe the
ground restrictions.
You have less time to react.
The vehicle swings more when being driven
over obstacles.
You need more braking distance, especially
if you are driving on unpaved roads.
