Chevrolet Tracker MY25 Owner Manual Mexico and Caribbean (GMSA-Localizing-Mexico-18450403) - 2025
Driving and Operating 119
ABS control is made apparent through apulse
i
n the brake pedal and the noise of the
ABS process.
For optimum braking, keep the brake pedal
fully depressed throughout the braking
process, despite the fact that the pedal is
pulsating. Do not reduce the pressure on the
brake pedal.
Remember: ABS does not change the time
needed to get afoot up to the brake pedal or
always decrease stopping distance. If you get
too close to the vehicle in front of you, there will
not be enough time to apply the brakes if that
vehicle suddenly slows or stops. Always leave
enough room up ahead to stop, even with ABS.
When you start the vehicle after the ignition is
switched on, you can hear mechanical sounds.
It is normal that the ABS is to be ready.
See Antilock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light
359.
Using ABS
Do not pump the brakes. Just hold the brake
pedal down firmly and let ABS work. You might
hear the ABS pump or motor operating and feel
the brake pedal pulsate, but this is normal.
Braking in Emergencies
A
BS allows you to steer and brake at the same
time. In many emergencies, steering can help
more than even the very best braking.
Depending on the severity of the emergency
braking, the vehicle might blink the brake
lamps as awarning for other vehicles.
Fault
{ W
arning
If there is afault in the ABS, the wheels
m
ay be liable to lock due to braking that
is heavier than normal. The advantages
of ABS are no longer available. During
hard braking, the vehicle can no longer be
steered and may swerve.
