Do not allow the terminals of one
cable to touch those of the other
cable.

Do not use chargers for quick
charging in this procedure.

The vehicles must not come into
contact with each other during
the jump starting process.

Apply the parking brake, manual
transmission in neutral,
automatic transmission in
P (PARK).
Cables connection order:
1. Connect the red cable to the
positive terminal of the booster
battery.
2. Connect the other end of the
red cable to the positive
terminal of the discharged
battery.
3. Connect the black cable to the
negative terminal of the
booster battery.
4. Connect the other end of the
black cable to a vehicle
grounding point, such as the
engine block or an engine
mounting bolt. Connect as far
away from the discharged
battery as possible.
Caution
The fans and the other engine
movable parts can cause serious
injuries. Keep the hands and
pieces of cloth away from the
movable parts when the engine is
running, or even with the engine
switched on.
Route the cables so that they
cannot catch on rotating parts in the
engine compartment.
To start the engine:
1. Start the engine of the vehicle
providing the jump.
2. After 5 minutes, start the other
engine. If the engine does not
start after some attempts, there
is the possibility that some
repairs might be necessary.
3. Allow both engines to idle for
approximately 3 minutes with
the cables connected.
4. Reverse above sequence
exactly when removing cables.
