WARNING
The regulator must be cycled by reducing en-
gine speed low enough for cut-out relay con-
tacts to open, before increasing engine speed to
1,500 r.p.m. when retesting after each adjust-
ment. The regulator cover must be in place
when test is made.
33.
TESTING THE CURRENT REGULATOR
The current regulator is temperature compen-
sated and temperature must be considered in
same manner as when testing voltage regula-
tor. The test of current regulator would nor-
mally be made following test procedure for
voltage regulator. When test of current reg-
ulator immediately follows voltage regulator
test, generator should be run at its rated out-
put of 30 amperes for 15 minutes (in addition
to voltage regulator 15 minute run) before
checking or adjusting current regulator. Test
as follows:
Install test equipment (Fig. 12), start en-
gine and increase speed to 2,000 r.p.m. Adjust
variable resistance across battery until current
settles to steady ampere output. The current
regulator should limit current output as listed
in Data and Specifications.
If adjustment is required, reduce engine
speed to slow idle and remove cover from reg-
ulator. Bend lower current regulator spring
hanger down to increase current output setting
or up to decrease setting, (Fig. 13).
