The Coleman Water Hose Adapter, model 2300-511, is an accessory designed to connect a standard water hose to a Coleman Hot Water on Demand™ system. This adapter allows users to utilize a continuous water source for their Hot Water on Demand™ unit, rather than relying on the unit's internal water pump and reservoir.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Water Hose Adapter is to provide a direct connection between a standard garden hose and the Hot Water on Demand™ system. Once the adapter is installed and the water source is turned on, the Hot Water on Demand™ unit can be used to control the water flow (on/off) and select the desired water temperature. This eliminates the need to manually fill the Hot Water on Demand™ unit's water reservoir, offering a more convenient and continuous hot water supply for various outdoor activities like camping, showering, or washing.

Usage Features:

Before attaching the adapter, ensure the Hot Water on Demand™ unit is turned off and no water is running through it. The unit should be operated from a stable surface like a camp table or picnic table, and not placed directly on the ground. This is important because water will drain from the unit when it's off, and operating it off the ground helps prevent damage, especially in freezing temperatures.

To attach the Water Hose Adapter:

  1. Remove the existing water pump assembly:
    • Disconnect the water pump's electrical connection from the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
    • Release the quick connector to detach the water pump.
  2. Connect the Water Hose Adapter to the Hot Water on Demand™:
    • Connect the adapter's electrical connection to the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
    • Insert the adapter's quick connector into the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
    • Connect a standard water hose to the adapter's water inlet fitting and tighten it securely.
    • Connect the other end of the water hose to a water source.

To start using the Hot Water on Demand™ with the adapter:

  1. Turn on the water at the source.
  2. Turn the Hot Water on Demand™ Control Knob to "COOL" until water begins to dispense. This primes the system.
  3. Turn the Control Knob to "OFF."
  4. To select the desired water temperature, turn the Control Knob counterclockwise to the desired setting.

To remove the Water Hose Adapter:

  1. Disconnect the adapter's electrical connection from the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
  2. Release the quick connector to disconnect the adapter hose from the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
  3. Reconnect the original water pump's electrical connection to the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
  4. Insert the water pump hose back into the Hot Water on Demand™ unit using the quick connector.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning of the water tubing is recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the adapter and the Hot Water on Demand™ system.

To clean the adapter's water tubing:

  1. Prepare a cleaning solution: Mix one gallon of water with 6 ounces of a calcium, lime, and rust remover solution. These removers are commonly available at hardware, general merchandise, and food stores.
  2. Disconnect the Water Hose Adapter from the Hot Water on Demand™ unit.
  3. Unscrew the water tubing from the adapter body.
  4. Detach any clips securing the water tubing.
  5. Submerge the water tubing in the cleaning solution for five minutes. This allows the solution to break down mineral deposits.
  6. After soaking, run clean water through the water tubing to rinse out the cleaning solution and any loosened debris.
  7. Allow the tubing to air dry completely.
  8. Reattach the tubing to the Water Hose Adapter and secure it with the clips.
