Overview

The device is a Cookology TCH601 60cm Ceramic Hob in black, designed for household use. It is a built-in ceramic hob with four cooking zones and touch controls.

Function Description:

The ceramic hob is used for cooking food through heating elements located beneath a ceramic glass surface. It offers various power levels for each cooking zone and includes a timer function. The touch control panel allows for easy operation, including switching on/off individual zones, adjusting power levels, and setting the timer. A safety lock feature is also integrated to prevent accidental operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: TCH601
  • Type: 60cm Ceramic Hob Black
  • Number of Cooking Zones: 4
  • Power Supply: 220-240V 1N~ 50-60Hz or 380-415V 2N~ 50-60Hz (adaptive voltage range)
  • Connection Cable: H05VV-F 3G2.5 (for 1N~) or H05VV-F 4G2.5 (for 2N~)
  • Total Power (kW): 6.0 kW
  • Individual Zone Power:
    • Furnace plate 1: 1.2 kW (165 mm diameter hyperspeed zone)
    • Furnace plate 2: 1.8 kW (200 mm diameter hyperspeed zone)
    • Furnace plate 3: 1.2 kW (165 mm diameter hyperspeed zone)
    • Furnace plate 4: 1.8 kW (200 mm diameter hyperspeed zone)
  • Installation Dimensions (Cut-out): 560mm x 490mm (refer to diagram for detailed measurements including 510mm x 580mm top dimensions)
  • Minimum Temperature Resistance for Adjacent Furniture: 85°C above ambient.
  • Safety Switch: Requires a 30A double pole switched fused spur outlet with 3mm contact separation, accessible after installation.

Usage Features:

  • Touch Controls: All operations are performed via touch controls on the control panel.
  • Switching On/Off: The hob is switched on/off using the ON/OFF button (7). Individual cooking zones are selected and adjusted using dedicated plus/minus buttons (1-4 for selection, 5 for minus, 9 for plus).
  • Power Level Adjustment: Power levels range from 1 to 9. Holding down the plus or minus buttons allows for rapid adjustment.
  • Residual Heat Indicator: After a zone is switched off, a flashing "H" indicates that the surface temperature is above 60°C and still hot enough to cause injury. This indicator disappears when the temperature falls below 60°C.
  • Safety Lock: The entire hob can be locked by pressing the safety lock button (8), indicated by "LO" on the timer display (14). This disables all other buttons except the ON/OFF button (7).
  • Hob Timer: A countdown timer (1-99 minutes) is available, set using the timer button (6) and plus/minus buttons (9, 5). An audible signal sounds when the countdown ends. The timer controls the entire hob and switches it off when the countdown finishes.
  • Self-Heating Mode: Allows for an initial high-power heating phase followed by a reduced, sustained heating level. This mode is activated by setting power to level 9, then touching the plus button (9) to display "A" and "9" alternately, and finally setting the desired self-heating level with the minus button (5).
  • Safety Cut-off: If a cooking zone is accidentally left on, it will automatically switch off after a certain period, which varies depending on the power level set (e.g., 6 hours for levels 1-2, 1.5 hours for levels 6-9).
  • Pan Compatibility: Pans should have flat, clean, and dry bottoms. Slightly concave bottoms are preferred when cold to ensure full contact when hot. Recommended bottom thickness: 2-3 mm for enamelled steel, 4-6 mm for stainless steel with sandwich type bottoms. Pans should match the diameter of the cooking zones. Rough-bottomed saucepans should be avoided to prevent scratching the ceramic surface.
  • Energy Efficiency: Covering pans with a lid and cooking vegetables/potatoes in minimal water is recommended for efficient cooking.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Cleaning operations should only be carried out when the hob is cool and disconnected from the mains supply.
  • General Cleaning: Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth after each use and dry with a clean cloth.
  • Ceramic Hob Top Cleaning:
    • Remove residues from cleaning agents with warm water and a little washing-up liquid.
    • Avoid abrasive cleaners or sharp objects, as they can damage the surface.
    • For sugar or food/liquid containing sugar, tin foil, or plastic, remove immediately with a ceramic hob scraper.
    • For fat splashes, metallic discolouration, or water splashes/rings, remove when the appliance has cooled down using a ceramic hob cleaner.
  • Internal Cleaning: The inside of the hob should only be washed with warm water and a small amount of washing-up liquid.
  • Corrosion Protection: Protect the hob against corrosion.
  • Damaged Surface: If the ceramic surface becomes broken or cracked, switch off the appliance immediately to avoid electric shock and contact customer care. Do not use the hob if the surface is damaged.
  • No Steam Cleaners: Steam cleaning equipment should not be used.
  • Professional Repair: Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Any faults must be fixed by an appropriately qualified and authorized person. If an engineer is called under guarantee and no fault is found, the owner may be liable for the call-out cost. The appliance must be accessible for repair without causing damage to the appliance or kitchen.
  • Mains Supply Cable Replacement: If the mains supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by an appropriate replacement in accordance with the provided instructions, ensuring proper connection of earth, neutral, and live wires.
