II. Preparation
• Whilemowing,alwayswear substantialfootwear and
longtrousers. Do notoperatethe equipmentwhen
barefootorwsarlngopensandals.
• Thoroughlyinspectthearnewherethe equipment isto
be usedand removeallobjectswhichmaybethrown
bythemachine.
• WARNING - Petrolis highlyltammable.
- Storefuelincontainersspecificallydesignedfor this
purpose.
- Refueloutdoorsonlyand donot smokewhile refu-
eling.
- Addfuelbeforestartingthe engine. Neverremove
thecapofthefueltankoraddpetrolwhiletheengine
is running orwhen theengineIshot.
- Ifpetrolisspilled,donotattempt tostartthe engine
butmovethemachineawayfromthearea ofspillage
andavoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilpetrol
vaporshavedissipated.
-Replace all fuel tanks and container caps se-
curely.
• Replacefaultysilencers.
• Beforeusing,alwaysvisualtyinspectto see that the
blades,bladeboltsandcutterassemblyare notworn
or damaged. Replacewornordamagedblades and
boltsinsetstopreservebalance.
• On multi-bladedmachines,take care as rotatingone
bladecancause otherblades torotate.
IlL Operation
• Do notoperatetheengineina confinedspacewhere
dangerouscarbon monoxidefumescan collect.
•- Mowonlyindaylightoringoodartificiallight.
• Avoidoperatingthe equipmentin wet grass,where
feasible.
• Alwaysbe sureof yourfootingonslopes.
• Walk,neverrun.
• Forwheeledrotarymachines,mowacrossthefaceof
slopes,neverupanddown.
• Exerciseextremecautionwhen changingdirectionon
slopes,
• Do notmow excessivelysteep slopes.
• Use extreme cautionwhen reversingor pullingthe
lawnmowertowardsyou.
• Stop _ bladeIfthe lawnmower has to be tiltedfor
transpo_ whenorosslngsurfacesotherthangrass,
andwhentransportingthelawnmowertoandfromthe
areatohemowed.
• Neveroperatethe lawnmowerwith defectiveguards,or

• Disengageallblade andddveclutchssbeforestartiog
the engine.
• Startthe engine or switchon the motorcarefullyac-
cordingto instructionsand with feet well awayfrom
the blade,
• Donottiltthe lawnmowerwhenstartingthe engineor
switchingon the motor,exceptif thelawnmowerhas
to be tiltedfor starting. In thiscase, do nottiltmore
thanabsolutelynecessaryandliftonlythe pert which
isawayfromthe operator.
• Do notstartthe enginewhen standingIn frontof tile
dischargechute.
• Do notputhandsorfeet near orunderrotating parts.
Keepclearofthedischargeopeningat alltimes.
• Neverpickupor carrylawnmowerwhile the engineis
running.
• Stopths engineand disconnectthe sparkplug wire:
- beforecleaningblockages or uncloggingchute;
- beforechecking,cleaningor workingon the lawn-
mower;,
- afterstrikingaforeignobject.Inspectthelawnmower
fordamageandmakerepelrabeforerestartingand
operatingthe Iswnmower;
- ifthelawnmowerstartstovibrateabnormally(check
Immedistely).
• Stopthe engine:
- wheneveryou leavethe lawnmawer;
- beforerefuelllng.
• Reducethe throttlesettingduringengine shutdown
and,iftheengineisprovidedwithashut-offvane, furn
thefuel offat theconclusionof mowing.
• Go slowwhenusinga trailingseat.
IV, Maintenance and Storage
• Keep al!nuts,bolts and screwstightto be surethe
equipmentis insafe workingcondition.
• Neverstoratheequlpmentwithpetrolinthetankinside
a buildingwhere fumes may reachan openflame or
spark.
• AllowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringIn anyenclo-
sure.
• Toreducethefire hazard,keeptheengine,silencer,
batterycompartmentand petrolstoragearea free ot
grass,leaves,orexcessivegrease.
• Check thegrasscatcherfrequentlyforwear or dete-
rioration.
• Replecewornor damagedpartsior safety.
• If thefueltankhastobedrained,thisshouldbe done
outdoors,
