TO START ENGINE
Whenstartingthe enginefor the first time
or ifthe engine has runout of fuel, itwill
takeextracrankingtimeto movefuel from
the tankto the engine.
1. Besurefreewheelcontrol is in the
transmissionengagedposition.
2. Sit onseat inoperatingposition,
depressclutch/brakepedatandset
parkingbrake.
3. Placemotioncontrol leverin neutral
(N) position.
4. Moveattachmentclutchto disengaged
position.
5. Movethrottlecontrolto chokeposition.
NOTE: Beforestarting, readthe warm
andcold starting proceduresbelow.
6. Insertkeyinto ignitionandturn key
clockwisetostart positionand release
keyas soonas enginestarts.Do
not runstarter continuouslyfor more
thanfifteen secondsperminute.If the
enginedoes notstart after several
attempts,movethrottlecontrol to fast
position,waita few minutesandtry
again.If enginestill does not start,
movethe throttlecontrol backto the
chokepositionand retry.
WARMWEATHERSTARTING(50° F and
above)
7. Whenenginestarts, movethe throttle
controlto the fast position.
The attachmentsandgrounddrivecan
nowbe used.If the enginedoes not
acceptthe load,restartthe engineand
allowitto warm upforone minuteusing
the choke as describedabove.
COLDWEATHERSTARTING(50° F and
below)
7. Whenenginestarts, allowengine
to run withthe throttlecontrol inthe
chokepositionuntil the engine runs
roughly,then movethrottle control
to fastposition.This may requirean
enginewarm-up periodfromseveral
secondstoseveralminutes,depending
on the temperature.
AUTOMATICTRANSMISSIONWARMUP
Beforedrivingthe unitincold weather,
the transmissionshouldbewarmed upas
follows:
1. Be surethe tractor is on levelground.
2. Placethe motioncontrol leverin
neutral.Releasethe parkingbrake
and letthe clutch/brakeslowly return
to operatingposition.
3. Allowone minutefor transmissionto
warm up.This can be doneduring
the enginewarm up period.
The attachmentscan also be useddur-
ingthe enginewarm-upperiodafter the
transmissionhas beenwarmed up.
NOTE: If at a high altitude(above3000
feet)or in cold temperatures(below32 F)
the carburetorfuel mixturemay needto
be adjustedforbest engineperformance.

manual.)
PURGE TRANSMmSSION
Toensureproperoperationandper-
formance,it is recommendedthat the
transmissionbe purgedbeforeoperating
tractorfor the first time.This procedurewill
removeanytrappedair insidethe trans-
missionwhich may havedevelopedduring
shippingofyourtractor.
mMPORTANT:Shouldyour transmission
requireremovalfor serviceor replace-
ment,it should bepurgedafterreinstall-
ationbeforeoperatingthe tractor.
1. Placetractorsafelyin anareathat is
flatforapproximately80 feet in frontof
the tractorand set the parkingbrake.
2. Sittinginthe tractor seat,start engine.
Afterthe engine is running,move
throttlecontrolto slowposition.With
motioncontrol leverin neutral(N)
position,slowly disengageclutch/brake
pedal.
3. Slowlymovemotioncontrol leverto
fullforwardpositionandhold for five
(5) seconds,or approximately40 feet.
Slowlymoveleverto full reverseposi-
tionand holdfor five (5)seconds,or
approximately20feet.Afterthe tractor
movesapproximately20 feet in reverse
returnthe motioncontrolleverto the
neutral(N) position.Repeatthis proce-
durethree(3) times.
Yourtransmissionis now purgedandnow
readyfor normaloperation.
