Calls and Voicemail
HD Voice capable*
Enjoy crystal-clear conversations.
Make a call
1. To make a call, tap Phone
from the Home screen.
2. Enter the number using the
Dialer , or choose a contact
from the Contacts , Recent ,
or Favorites tab and tap the
number to place the call.
Check voicemail
1. From the Home screen, tap Phone > Dialer .
2. Touch and hold the 1 key , then follow the
prompts to set up your voicemail.
Use call waiting
1. While on a call, you will hear a
tone if another call comes in.
Swipe up to accept and place
the current call on hold, or swipe
down to reject the call. The caller
will be sent to voicemail.
2. Tap to merge calls or tap the
other call to switch between
active calls.
* To experience Cricket HD Voice, both callers must have a
compatible HD Voice–capable smartphone and make the call
over Cricket’s LTE network or a compatible network. Cricket’s LTE
coverage is not equivalent to its overall network coverage. HD
Voice calls made on a compatible device and on the LTE network
may not experience an HD Voice connection at times of network
congestion. Other carriers’ networks may interoperate with Cricket’s
LTE network to support an HD Voice call.
Camera and Video
Take a picture
1. From the Home screen, tap
Camera .
2. Position the object or landscape
in the viewnder.
3. Tap to take the picture. It will
be automatically saved
to Gallery .
Make a video
1. Tap Video and tap in the
bottom center of the screen to
start recording a video.
2. Tap to stop recording. The
video will be automatically
saved to Gallery .
3. Tap to take pictures while
recording. The photo will be
automatically saved to
Gallery .
Share a picture or video
1. From the Home screen,
tap Gallery .
2. Tap a photo or video, and then
tap Share and select an
option for sharing.
Personalizing Your Screen
Set your wallpaper
1. Touch and hold an empty
space on the Home screen
and tap Wallpapers.
2. Select a wallpaper and tap
Set wallpaper. Choose to set
the wallpaper for the Home
screen, Lock screen, or both.
Add app shortcuts
1. To add an app to the Home screen,
swipe up from the bottom of the
Home screen to access the Apps
drawer. Touch and hold an app,
then drag it to any Home screen.
Organize your Home screens
1. Touch and hold the app, or folder.
2. Drag the item to the desired
position and then release.
Create app folders
1. From the Home screen, touch and hold an app,
then drag it over to another app to create a folder.
2. Drag more apps to the folder to add them.
3. To name or rename the folder, open the folder,
tap the title bar, and enter the desired name.
Delete app shortcuts or folders
1. From the Home screen, touch and hold an app
shortcut or folder, then drag it to Remove at
the top left of the screen to delete it from the
Home screen.
Cricket Services
These services make using Cricket even better
and easier.
myCricket: Access billing, make a quick
payment, view usage and access support
from the palm of your hand.
Visual Voicemail: Quickly view, access, and
play back your voicemail messages. Easily
save important numbers and respond to
messages by calling back or texting.
Apps on Google Play
Access Google Play
1. From the Home screen, tap
Play Store .
2. Enter your existing
Google™ account login
or create one following the
steps on the screen.
Navigate Google Play
1. Tap a category to browse
apps, games, movies,
and music organized by
popularity or category.
2. Tap the Google Play search bar to search the
Play Store for a specic game or app.
3. To install, tap the app and follow the instructions.
Once installed, you will see a notication in the
Notications panel. Open the app from this
notication or by locating it in the apps drawer.
Note: A payment method, such as Google Wallet™,
is required to purchase apps.
Using the Touch Screen
Swipe up on the screen to unlock.
Use your ngertip to lightly tap
the screen.
Use quick icks of your nger on
the touch screen to swipe up,
down, left and right.
Spread two ngers apart or pinch
them together on the screen to
zoom in or out on a web page or
Gallery image.
To return to the previous screen, tap the Back key .
Tap the Home key at any time to return to the
main Home screen. Touch and hold the Home
key to access Google Assistant.
Tap the Recent apps key to access recently
viewed apps.
Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to
access applications on your phone.
Notication panel
1. Swipe down on the Status bar to
open the Notication panel.
2. Swipe left or right on a notication
to delete it, or tap CLEAR ALL to
clear all event-based notications
(other ongoing notications
will remain).
3. From the Notication panel, swipe
down again to access the Quick
Settings panel. Tap a setting to turn
it on/off, or tap Settings to access full Settings.
Useful Features
Display Brightness: Swipe down from the
Status bar twice to open the Quick Settings
panel. Slide the adjustment bar to brighten
or dim the display. For Adaptive brightness,
go to Settings > Display > Adaptive
brightness. Tap Adaptive brightness to turn
it on or off.
Volume Controls: Press the side volume key
and adjust volume slider for all media and
alerts volume together or tap at the
bottom of the pop-out volume controller to
modify media, call, ring, and alarm volume
individually. Tap at the top of the volume
pop out to toggle between Ring , Vibrate
, or Mute , for all calls and notications.
Flashlight: Swipe down from the Status bar
to open the Quick Settings panel. Tap
Flashlight to turn it on or off.
Battery Saving Mode: Swipe down on the
Status bar to open the Quick Settings panel.
Tap Battery Saver to turn it on or off.
Data Saver: Data Saver helps to reduce
data usage by preventing some apps from
sending or receiving data in the
background. To use Data Saver, go to
Settings > Network & internet > Data
usage. Tap Data Saver to turn it on or off.
Setting Up Your Phone
Install a Nano SIM/microSD card*
1. Gently remove the back
cover via the notch at
the bottom left corner.
2. Hold the SIM card with
metal contacts facing
downward and the cut
corner at the bottom left.
Slide the card into the
SIM slot.
3.
microSD NanoSIM
Hold the microSD card
(sold separately) with
metal contacts facing
downward and the cut
side on the bottom
right. Slide the card into
the microSD slot.
4. Replace the back cover
and be sure to rmly
snap all four corners
into place.
5. Charge phone fully before
turning on.
6. Touch and hold the Power key
until the phone turns on.
* WARNING!
To avoid damage to the phone, do not use any other
kind of SIM card or any non-standard Nano SIM card
cut from a SIM card. You can get a standard Nano SIM
card from your service provider.

Overview

This document serves as a Quick Start Guide for the Cricket® Icon 2 Smartphone, providing essential information on its features, setup, and basic operations.

Function Description

The Cricket Icon 2 is a smartphone designed for communication, multimedia, and internet access. It supports various functions including making calls, sending messages, emailing, taking photos and videos, and accessing a wide range of applications through Google Play™. The device is HD Voice capable, offering crystal-clear conversations when used with compatible networks and devices. It features a touch screen for interactive navigation and control, along with physical keys for power and volume adjustments. The phone also includes sensors for proximity and light, a front and rear camera with flash, and ports for charging, accessories, and a headset.

Usage Features

Getting Started:

  • Physical Overview: The phone includes a headset port and receiver at the top, a proximity and light sensor, and an LED indicator. The front camera is located at the top of the screen. On the right side, there are volume keys and a power key. The back removal notch is positioned on the right side for accessing the SIM/microSD card slots. At the bottom, there's a USB charging and accessory port, a microphone, and a speaker. The rear camera and flash are located on the back of the device.
  • Installation: To set up the phone, gently remove the back cover using the notch at the bottom left corner. Insert a Nano SIM card (metal contacts facing downward, cut corner at bottom left) into the SIM slot. If desired, insert a microSD card (sold separately, metal contacts facing downward, cut side at bottom right) into the microSD slot. After installation, replace the back cover, ensuring all four corners snap firmly into place.
  • Powering On: Charge the phone fully before turning it on. To power on, touch and hold the Power key until the phone starts up.
  • Warning: To prevent damage, only use standard Nano SIM cards from your service provider. Do not use any other type of SIM card or a non-standard Nano SIM card cut from a SIM card.

Touch Screen Navigation:

  • Unlocking: Swipe up on the screen to unlock the device.
  • Interaction: Use your fingertip to lightly tap the screen for selections.
  • Scrolling/Swiping: Use quick flicks of your finger to swipe up, down, left, or right.
  • Zooming: Spread two fingers apart or pinch them together on the screen to zoom in or out on web pages or gallery images.
  • Navigation Keys:
    • Back Key (◄): Tap to return to the previous screen.
    • Home Key (○): Tap at any time to return to the main Home screen. Touch and hold the Home key to access Google Assistant.
    • Recent Apps Key (□): Tap to access recently viewed applications.
  • App Access: Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to access all applications on your phone.

Notification Panel:

  • Opening: Swipe down on the Status bar to open the Notification panel.
  • Managing Notifications: Swipe left or right on a notification to delete it, or tap "CLEAR ALL" to clear all event-based notifications (ongoing notifications will remain).
  • Quick Settings: From the Notification panel, swipe down again to access the Quick Settings panel. Tap a setting to toggle it on/off, or tap "Settings" (✡) to access full Settings.

Personalizing Your Screen:

  • Set Wallpaper: Touch and hold an empty space on the Home screen, then tap "Wallpapers." Select a wallpaper and tap "Set wallpaper," choosing to apply it to the Home screen, Lock screen, or both.
  • Add App Shortcuts: Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to access the Apps drawer. Touch and hold an app, then drag it to any Home screen.
  • Organize Home Screens: Touch and hold an app or folder, then drag it to the desired position.
  • Create App Folders: Touch and hold an app on the Home screen, then drag it over another app to create a folder. Drag more apps into the folder to add them. To name or rename a folder, open it, tap the title bar, and enter the desired name.
  • Delete App Shortcuts/Folders: Touch and hold an app shortcut or folder on the Home screen, then drag it to "X Remove" at the top left of the screen.

Calls and Voicemail:

  • Making a Call: Tap "Phone" (?) from the Home screen. Enter the number using the "Dialer" (∷), or select a contact from the "Contacts" (?), "Recent" (?), or "Favorites" (★) tab, then tap the number to place the call.
  • Checking Voicemail: From the Home screen, tap "Phone" (?) > "Dialer" (∷). Touch and hold the "1" key (1), then follow the prompts to set up your voicemail.
  • Call Waiting: While on a call, a tone will indicate another incoming call. Swipe up to accept and place the current call on hold, or swipe down to reject the call (caller will be sent to voicemail). Tap (↱) to merge calls or switch between active calls.
  • HD Voice: To experience HD Voice, both callers need a compatible HD Voice-capable smartphone and must make the call over Cricket's LTE network or a compatible network. HD Voice calls may not always experience an HD Voice connection during network congestion. Other carriers' networks may interoperate with Cricket's LTE network for HD Voice calls.

Text and Picture Messaging:

  • Send Text Message: From the Home screen, tap "Messaging" (?). Tap (+) to create a new message or start a new group chat. Enter recipient names/numbers in the "To" field. Type your message and tap (▶) to send.
  • Send Picture Message: From the Home screen, tap "Messaging" (?). Tap (+) to create a new message or start a new group chat. Enter recipient names/numbers in the "To" field. Type your message. Tap (+) to add picture files, (?) to snap a photo, (?️) to select photos, or (?) to add a voice message. Tap (▶) to send.
  • Safety Note: Do not text and drive.

Email:

  • Email Setup (Gmail, Yahoo!, etc.): From the Home screen, tap "Gmail" (M). Follow the on-screen steps to set up your account.
  • Create and Send Email: Tap (✍️) from the Inbox screen to compose a new message. Enter recipient email addresses in the "To" field. Tap (⌄) to add a carbon copy (CC) or blind carbon copy (BCC). Enter the subject and content. To add attachments, tap (?) and select "Attach file." Tap (▶) to send.
  • Corporate Email: For corporate email accounts, contact your IT administrator.

Useful Features:

  • Display Brightness: Swipe down twice from the Status bar to open Quick Settings. Adjust the bar to brighten or dim the display. For Adaptive brightness, go to "Settings" (⚙️) > "Display" > "Adaptive brightness" and toggle it on/off.

  • Data Saver: Data Saver reduces data usage by preventing background app data usage. To use, go to "Settings" (⚙️) > "Network & internet" > "Data usage." Tap "Data Saver" to turn it on/off.

Cricket Services:

  • myCricket (☑): Access billing, make quick payments, view usage, and get support from your phone.

  • Take a Picture: From the Home screen, tap "Camera" (?). Position the object or landscape in the viewfinder. Tap (⚪) to take the picture; it will be automatically saved to "Gallery" (?️).
  • Make a Video: Tap "Video" (▶) and then (?) at the bottom center of the screen to start recording. Tap (◼️) to stop recording; the video will be automatically saved to "Gallery" (?️). You can tap (⚪) to take pictures while recording; these photos will also be saved to "Gallery" (?️).
  • Share Picture or Video: From the Home screen, tap "Gallery" (?️). Tap a photo or video, then tap "Share" (⮞) and select an option for sharing.
