Part 3: Install SSD into Computer

Select Source and Destination Drives

Designate your old drive as source and new SSD as destination for copying.

Shut Down System

Power off the computer and disconnect the SATA-to-USB cable.

Remove Power Cable and Battery

Disconnect the power cable and remove the laptop battery for safety.

Discharge System Electricity

Hold the power button for 5 seconds to remove residual electricity.

Open Computer Case

Consult owner's manual for specific instructions on opening the case.

Ground Yourself

Touch an unpainted metal surface to protect components from static discharge.

Locate Storage Bay

Identify the drive bay location, which varies by system model.

Remove Old Drive

Disconnect cables and unscrew the existing drive from its bay.

Attach Cables and Brackets to SSD

Connect necessary cables and brackets to the new SSD.

Reassemble System

Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and close the computer case.

Turn On Computer

Boot up the computer to confirm the SSD is installed and working.

Part 4: Optimize SSD Performance

Enable Storage Executive

Download and install Crucial Storage Executive for performance updates.

Select Download Version

Choose the correct Storage Executive version (32/64-bit) for your OS.

Run Storage Executive

Install and launch the Storage Executive software.

Enable Momentum Cache

Activate Momentum Cache for potentially 10x faster SSD performance.
