This document outlines the replacement procedure for the Crystal Mountain SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge, a component designed for use with Crystal Mountain water dispensers. The SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is integral to providing high-quality, great-tasting water from the dispenser.
Function Description:
The SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is a filtration and dispensing component within a Crystal Mountain water cooler. Its primary function is to filter the incoming water, ensuring it is clean and safe for consumption, and then to facilitate its dispensing. The cartridge is designed for regular replacement to maintain optimal water quality and dispenser hygiene. The system incorporates a "reset life timer system" that requires the SmartFlo™ to be removed from the dispenser for a minimum of 15 seconds to reset the unit's connection to the mains power supply, ensuring proper tracking of its operational life.
Important Technical Specifications:
While specific technical specifications like micron rating or flow rate are not detailed in this manual, the document emphasizes the importance of regular replacement. The recommended replacement interval for the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is every 12 months for best quality and taste. The cartridge is designed to be replaced along with the Bottle Adaptor, which is also part of the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge and Bottle Adaptor kit. The system is designed to dispense water at very high temperatures, and users are warned against using it for liquids other than water. The dispenser is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Usage Features:
The SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge system is designed for ease of use and maintenance. The replacement process is straightforward, involving several key steps:
- Accessing the Cartridge: The process begins by opening the dispenser door (Figure 1) and sliding the bottle out of the cabinet (Figure 2). The SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge and red plug kit, along with the water line, are then disconnected from the bottle adaptor (Figure 3) and the red plug is added to the waterline (Figure 4).
- Removing the Old Cartridge: To remove the existing SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge, the access key provided in the kit is inserted into the two holes located at the underside of the top edge of the cooler (above water levers). Pushing the key upwards and inwards (Figures 5 and 6) unlocks the front of the top cover, allowing it to open upwards. A glass or other container can be placed below the water outlets to catch drips. The locking clip located near the front of the cooler is unlatched to release the water tubing. The turn knobs holding down the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge are then unlocked (Figure 8).
- Installing the New Cartridge: The old SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is pulled upwards to remove it (Figure 9). The discarded SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge should be disposed of according to local regulations, with an emphasis on responsible waste disposal and recycling. The new SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is then inserted into the dispenser, with the guide tube pushed through to the bottle installation area (Figure 10).
- Securing the New Cartridge: The outlet tube of the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge assembly is ensured to be properly installed. The SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is aligned with its openings in the cooler, and then pushed into place (Figure 11). The turn knobs are rotated to lock the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge in place (Figure 12). The locking clip is closed to secure the water outlet tubing in place. Finally, the top cover of the cooler is closed (Figure 13).
- Preparing for Dispensing: A fresh bottle of water is placed inside the cabinet. The security label/seal from the bottle cap is removed, and the bottle adaptor assembly is removed from the empty bottle (Figure 14). The un-packaged Bottle Adaptor assembly is carefully inserted into the tube, avoiding touching the section of the bottle adaptor tube that is inserted into the bottle. The Spike Cap is installed with the end of the tube in the Spike Cap (Figure 15). The tube is pushed through the Spike Cap until it is close/hits the bottom of the bottle (Figure 16). The red protective cap from the blue tube of the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge is removed and installed onto the bottle adaptor assembly (Figure 17).
- Final Steps: The slide bottle into the cabinet and close the door (Figures 18 and 19). The cold and hot water levers are filled to their respective tanks. Water is allowed to flow from both faucets until the tanks have been filled (approximately 1 minute per tank). A crucial warning states: "CAUTION! ALWAYS DRAIN WATER COMPLETELY BEFORE SHIPPING OR STORING THE COOLER!"
Maintenance Features:
The primary maintenance feature highlighted is the regular replacement of the SmartFlo™ Water Cartridge and Bottle Adaptor kit every 12 months. This ensures the continued provision of high-quality water and prevents potential issues related to filter degradation or bacterial growth. The manual also emphasizes the importance of maintaining sanitation during the replacement process, particularly by avoiding touching the section of the bottle adaptor tube that is inserted into the bottle.
The document includes a "Warning" section that outlines important safety and usage guidelines:
