1. In HVAC Unit locate HVAC Power wire going to “Wall Thermostat”, (Typically RED).
Break/Disconnect 24 VAC Power wire going to “Wall Thermostat”.
A. Connect “RED”, “Input 24 VAC (Hot)” and “Gray” “Common” wire of AG-1250E to 24 VAC
(Hot) secondary side of 24 VAC Transformer.
B. Connect “Purple”, “Normally Closed” wire of AG-1250E to Thermostat’s “R” Terminal wire.
NOTE: “Purple” wire must be connected to “Thermostat”. Maximum capacity
24VAC/5Amp.
C. Connect “BLACK”, “Input: 24 VAC (Common)” wire of AG-1250E to 24 VAC (COMMON)
secondary side of 24 VAC Transformer or Thermostat’s “C”Terminal.
D. Optional: Connect “WHITE”, “Normally Open” wire of AG-1250E to the “WHITE” wire of
AquaGuard, AG-9100 External Alarm or Home Alarm System, or Communicating System,
etc...
NOTE: “WHITE”, “Normally Open” wire maximum capacity, 24VAC/1Amp.
2. Test the AG-1250E Secondary Pan Sensor (At start-up check initial amperage load) while the
HVAC unit is on and functioning correctly. See installation of sensor.
NOTE: When AG-1250E is wired correctly, the HVAC unit will shut o upon condensate
detection.

The AG-1250E must be installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. The AG-1250E
must be installed in accordance with all applicable local plumbing, drainage and electrical codes.
Remove electrical shock hazard – DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE HVAC UNIT BEFORE INSTALLING
THE AQUAGUARD AG-1250E to avoid electrical shock and/or equipment damage. Do not use on circuits
exceeding 24 VAC to avoid damage to sensor, shock or fire hazard.
In some situations the sensor may cause the unit to rapidly cycle on and o as water level
rises slowly in pan. Ater a brief period the HVAC unit will turn o completely. Condensation drain must be
serviced if this occurs.
In any installation where property damage and/or personal injury might result from an
inoperative sensor due to power outages, a back-up system(s) and /or alarm should be installed.
NOTICENOTICE
The AG-1250E must only be installed by a licensed contractor. Condensation pan must be
properly maintained ater installation and be kept free of foreign matter, rust or other obstructions that
might interfere with the proper operation of the AG-1250E.
NOTICENOTICE
Cleaning solutions or dirty probes may not allow the HVAC unit to come on. If such, remove probe
sensor and/or secondary pan sensor, clean, and dry.

Break/Disconnect Compressor wire going to “Wall Thermostat”.
A. Connect typically “YELLOW” wire, going to “Wall Thermostat” to “Gray” “Common” wires
of AG-1250E.
B. Connect “Purple”, “Normally Closed” wire of AG-1250E to Compressor’s typically
“YELLOW” wire going to compressor.
NOTE: “Purple” wire must be connected to Compressor “YELLOW” wire. Maximum

C. Connect “RED”, “Input: 24 VAC (HOT)” wire of AG-1250E to 24 VAC (HOT) of 24 VAC
Transformer or Thermostat’s “R”Terminal.
D. Optional: Connect “WHITE”, “Normally Open” wire of AG-1250E to the “WHITE” wire
of AquaGuard, AG-9100 External Alarm (see Figure 1.) or Home Alarm System, or

2. Test the AG-1250E Secondary Pan Sensor (At start-up check initial amperage load) while the
HVAC unit is on and functioning correctly. See installation of sensor.
NOTE: When the AG-1250E is wired correctly, (ONLY) the Compressor unit will shut-o upon
condensate detection. Air Handler will continue to run.
1. Clean desired mounting surface throughly with included alcohol pad.
2. Using the adhesive tape, ax the mounting clip to the desired surface in pan. Next, snap
AG-1250E to mounting clip.
3. Place the ATTENTION sticker on HVAC unit in a clearly visible location.
4. Test sensor: Place sensor in secondary pan and add enough water to the pan to cover
contacts (approximately ¼ inch). LED will illuminate and HVAC unit will stop running if wired
correctly.
