Front compartment
gine compartment, remove any jewellery
or tie you may be wearing, tie up your hair if
it is long and gather any loose clothing.
Do not press the accelerator pedal while
not paying attention. Always do so with ex-
treme care.
Do not leave objects in the front compart-
ment, e.g. rags or tools. They could cause
functional failures, damage to the electric
drive system and even a re.
WARNING
If additional insulating elements such as
blankets are placed in the front compart-
ment, this could prevent the electric drive
system from operating properly, could cause
a re and could result in serious injury.
Never cover the electric drive system with
blankets or other insulating materials.
WARNING
Operating uids and some materials in the
front compartment are highly ammable and
can cause re and serious injury!
Never smoke near the front compartment.
Never perform works close to unprotected
ames or sparks.
When you must perform works on the on-
board 12volt electrical system, bear in mind
the following:
Always disconnect the 12volt battery.
Ensure the vehicle is unlocked when dis-
connecting the 12-volt battery, otherwise
the anti-theft alarm will trigger.
Never perform works in the vicinity of
heating elements, water boilers or unpro-
tected ames.
Always have a re extinguisher close-by.
Make sure it is operational and has been in-
spected.
NOTICE
When relling or changing the operating u-
ids, ensure you pour the correct uids into
their corresponding ller caps. Using the
wrong operating uids can lead to serious
malfunctions and engine damage.
NOTICE
After an accident or hitting an obstacle with
the underside of the vehicle, the high-volt-
age battery must be checked by duly quali-
ed and trained technicians.
For the sake of the environment
Operating uids that overow from the vehi-
cle contaminate the environment. Therefore,
check underneath the vehicle on a regular
basis. If there are marks on the ground left by
operating uids, consult a specialised work-
shop and request the vehicle be checked. If
any operating uid leaks out, dispose of it in
the correct manner.
Preparing the vehicle for work in
the front compartment
Before performing works in the front compart-
ment, always perform the following operations
in the stated order ››› :
1. Place the vehicle on level and rm ground,
taking all necessary safety precautions.
2. Press the brake pedal and hold it down until
you disconnect the drive system.
3. Apply the electronic parking brake on the
gear selector.
4.
Disconnect the drive system ›››page152.
5.
Remove the vehicle key from the vehicle
and store it outside to avoid inadvertently
starting the vehicle ›››page153.
6.
Always keep other people away from the
front compartment.
7. Immobilize the vehicle so that it cannot
move.
