Lights
ically. If the vehicle changes lanes, the illumi-
nated range is extended to both lanes for the
duration of the manoeuvre.
Orientation light: If the system has detec-
ted road works or sections of narrow road,
the orientation light uses markings to approxi-
mately show the likely position of the vehicle
in its lane, depending on the current steering
angle. The width of the markings corresponds
approximately to the width of the vehicle, but
does not reproduce it exactly. The length of
markings is automatically adjusted according
to speed and distance to vehicles in front.
These functions can be activated and deacti-
vated from Vehicle settings in the infotainment
system .
System limitations
In the following cases, the main beam head-
light must be switched o manually because
the main beam assist will not disconnect it on
time or disconnect it at all:
On insuiciently lit roads with highly reec-
tive signs.
If road users are insuiciently lit up, e.g. pe-
destrians or cyclists.
On closed curves, when the traic in the
opposite direction is partially hidden, on pro-
nounced slopes or inclinations.
On roads with traic in the opposite direction
and with a central reservation barrier where
the driver can see over it e.g. lorry drivers.
In case of fog, snow or heavy rainfall.
In case of swirling dust or sand.
If the windscreen is damaged in the camera's
eld of vision.
If the camera's eld of vision is misted up,
dirty or covered by a sticker, snow or ice.
If the camera is damaged or if the power
supply has been cut o.
WARNING
The comfort features of the main beam assist
must not lead you to take any risks. The sys-
tem is not a replacement for driver concen-
tration.
You must always control the main beam
yourself and adapt it to the light, visibility and
traic conditions.
The main beam regulator may not recog-
nise all driving situations correctly and may
operate with limitations in certain circum-
stances.
When the camera’s eld of view is dirty,
covered or damaged, the operation of the
main beam regulator may be aected. This
also applies when the vehicle’s lighting in-
stallation is modied, e.g. when additional
headlamps are installed.
NOTICE
To avoid
aecting the operation of the sys-
tem, take the following points into considera-
tion:
Clean the eld of vision of the camera reg-
ularly and make sure it is free of snow and ice.
Do not cover the eld of vision of the cam-
era.
Check that the windscreen is not damaged
in the area of the camera’s eld of view.
Note
The headlight asher can be turned on and
o manually at any time with the turn signal
and main beam lever ›››page132.
If there are objects that radiate light in the
camera's area of inuence, e.g. a portable
navigation system, this may aect the opera-
tion of the main beam assist system.
“Cominghome” and “Leav-
inghome” function (exterior ori-
entation lighting)
The “Cominghome” and “Leavinghome”
function lights up the vehicle’s immediate sur-
roundings when getting into and out of it in the
dark.
This light is automatically controlled by a light
sensor.
