Display of traic signs
After checking and evaluating the information
from the camera, the infotainment system and
actual vehicle data, the system displays up to
two current road signs, and an additional sign:
●
First: The sign that is currently valid for the
driver is displayed on the left hand side of the
screen, e.g. a prohibition of driving at over
130km/h (80mph).
●
Second: Another traic sign, such as a warn-
ing sign, can be displayed in second place.
●
Additional sign: If an additional sign is de-
tected, e.g. for temporary limits, it is shown be-
low the valid road sign.
The valid road sign is displayed on the Head-
up-Display by the generic additional sign.
No entry sign
The traic sign recognition system gives a
warning on the instrument cluster when a no
entry sign is passed on a one-way road or an
entrance to a motorway or highway.
WARNING
The technology in the traic sign detection
system cannot change the limits imposed by
the laws of physics and only works within the
system's limits. The increased convenience
provided by the dynamic road sign display
system should not lead you to take any risks.
The system is not a replacement for driver
awareness.
●
Adapt your speed and driving style to
suit visibility, weather, road and traic condi-
tions.
●
Poor visibility, darkness, snow, rain and fog
may result in the system not displaying road
signs, or not displaying them correctly.
●
If the camera’s eld of view is dirty, covered
or damaged, the operation of the system may
be aected.
WARNING
The driving recommendations and traic in-
dications shown on the traic sign detection
system may dier from the actual current
traic situation.
●
The system cannot recognise or display all
road signs correctly.
●
Traic signs and traic regulations have
priority over the recommendations and dis-
plays provided by the system.
Limited operation
The traic sign detection system has certain
limitations. The following cases may lead the
system to operate with limitations or not at all:
●
In the case of poor visibility, e.g. in snow,
rain, fog or intense mist.
●
In cases of dazzling, e.g. caused by head-on
traic or by the sun.
●
When driving at high speeds.
●
If the camera is covered or dirty.
●
If the traic signs are partially or totally ob-
structed, e.g. by trees, snow, dirt or other vehi-
cles.
●
In the case of traic signs that do not full
the regulations.
●
In the case of damaged or bent traic signs.
●
In the case of variable messages on over-
head or gantry signs (LED-based variable traic
signs or other lighting units).
●
If the maps on the navigation system are not
up-to-date.
●
In the case of adhesives aixed to vehicles
that depict traic signs, e.g. speed limits on
lorries.
Driving with the speed warning
function
Operating conditions
The speed warning function gives warnings at
speeds above 20 km/h.
Connection and disconnection
Depending on the country, the speed warning
function is always activated when the ignition is
switched on.
If desired, you can deactivate the speed warn-
ing manually in the infotainment system:
