Ensure grounding, bonding, and earthing practices meet standards for SPD effectiveness.
Find an available 15 AMP breaker space after the main breaker for SPD connection.
If no space is available, locate the closest existing 15 AMP breaker.
Install SPD close to equipment, keeping 14 AWG wire leads to 35 cm or less.
Disconnect power to the electrical equipment before installing the SPD.
Install a 15 AMP branch circuit breaker to supply power to the SPD.
Mount SPD using knockout or conduit, ensuring watertight connections for NEMA 3R.
Route the 14 AWG wires from the SPD to the electrical equipment.
Strip and connect the SPD wires to the line side terminals of the branch breaker.
Verify all electrical connections are secure before energizing the system.
Energize the electrical equipment and the SPD by switching the main power to ON.
Confirm system operation by checking all status indicator lamps.
Connect Form C contacts to an alarm or monitoring system if remote monitoring is required.
Green indicator lights show SPD status; off indicates a problem requiring replacement.
The SPD requires no maintenance; replace if indicator lights are off.
