Choosing an Operation Mode
The DIR-890L is equipped with a software mode switch to give you more exibility in how to congure your network. You may choose to operate
this device in either Router Mode or Access Point Mode (AP Mode).
• Router Mode shares your Internet connection. This is the factory default setting suitable for most users.
• AP Mode extends your existing network.
You may switch to AP Mode from the built-in web conguration utility after you have completed the hardware installation. Refer to Internet on
page 34 for more information.
The following pages contain information about the DIR-890L's operation modes to help you determine how you wish to use it. This information
includes usage scenarios, cable diagrams, and network conguration information.
