154 - Driving
Depress the brake or clutch pedal,
then place the 3 card on the 4 symbol.
Press the button 1 to start the vehicle.
The message goes out.
Special case of Hybrid vehicles
Withthevehiclestationaryandinelec
tric operating mode, the "Active engine
Switch off" message appears on the
instrument panel accompanied by a
beep if:
– the driver's seatbelt is not fastened;
– the bonnet is open;
– the driver's door is open.
Conditions for stopping the engine
The vehicle must be stationary, with
the lever positioned to P for vehicles
with an automatic gearbox. On Hybrid
vehicles, the READYmessageisdis
played on the instrument panel.
With the card in the vehicle, press the
button 1 : the engine is switched off.
On Hybrid vehicles, the READYmes
sage disappears from the instrument
panel.
The steering column is locked when
thedriver'sdoorisopenedorthevehi
cle is locked.
Ifthecardisnolongerinthepassen
gercompartmentorifthecard'sbat
teryisflat,whenthevehicleisstation
ary and you try to switch the engine
off, the "Keycard absent : press/hold
START"messageappearsonthein
strument panel: press the button 1 for
at least three seconds. If the card is no
longer in the passenger compartment,
make sure you can retrieve it before
pressingandholdingthebutton.With
out the card, you will not be able to
restart the vehicle.
Withtheengineswitchedoff,anyac
cessories being used (radio, etc.) will
continue to function for approximately
10 minutes.
Whenthedriver’sdoorisopened,the
accessories stop working.

tion until the vehicle is
stationary.Oncetheen
gine has stopped, the
brake servo, power-assisted
steering, etc., and the passive
safety devices such as the
airbags and pretensioners will no
longer operate.
