Do not park the vehicle

Whenyouleaveyourve
hicle, especially if you
have your card with you,
check that the engine is
completely switched off.
Before carrying out any
operation in the engine
compartment, you must
switch off the ignition.
Stop and Start function
This system enables a reduced fuel
consumption and lower greenhouse
gas emissions.
The system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
Whendriving,thesystemstopstheen
gine (standby) when the vehicle is at a
standstill.
The warning light is displayed
on the instrument panel.
Conditions for engine standby
The vehicle has set off from where it
was parked;
For vehicles equipped with automat
ic gearboxes:
– the gearbox is in D or Nposition;
and
– thebrakepedalispressed(suffi
ciently hard);
Depending on the vehicle, if the
warning light flashes and the "Press
brake pedal" message appears on the
instrument panel, this indicates that
the brake pedal is not sufficiently
pressed;
and
– the accelerator pedal is not pressed;
and

tion P is selected, or if position Nisse
lected with the handbrake engaged
and the brake pedal released.
For vehicles equipped with manual
gearboxes:
– the gearbox is in neutral;
and
– the clutch pedal is released;
If the warning light flashes, this
means that the clutch pedal must be
released completely.
For all vehicles:
The warning light ontheinstru
ment panel is lit when the engine is on
standby.Thevehicleequipmentre
mains operational while the engine is
stopped.
When the engine switches to standby,
the steering assistance may no longer
be operational.
In this case it becomes operational
again when the engine is no longer on
standbyorthespeedexceedsapproxi
mately 1 mph (1 km/h) (downhill,
slope, etc.).
If the engine is put in
standby, the electronic
parkingbrake(depend
ing on the vehicle) is not
applied automatically.
