198 - Driving

System operation
It only operates when the gear lever is
in a position other than neutral (other
than N or P on an automatic gearbox)
andthevehicleiscompletelystation
ary (brake pedal pressed).
Thesystemholdsthevehicleforap
proximately 2 seconds. The brakes
are then released (the vehicle will
move according to the slope).
If the system detects an operating
fault, the warning light and,
depending on the vehicle, the "Check
Hill Start Assist" message is displayed
on the instrument panel. Consult an
approved Dealer.

The Hill Start Assist function

Hill descent control
This function enables the vehicle
speed to be limited without depressing
the brake pedal (when driving down a
steep hill).
