generally offer an sRGB setting as well, but are more often used set to their
AdobeRGB colorspace option, as it captures a wider color range. Which RGB color
workingspace you set Photoshop or Elements to use may depend on what colorspace
your camera utilizes.
Workingspace Color & Monitor Color
Your image editing application’s workingspace is not the same as your monitor’s
colorspace. To deal with this difference, colors are converted on the fly from
workingspace color to monitor color for display. The eyedropper values an image
editor shows are for the values in the workingspace, while the values displayed on
screen have been converted to the monitorspace.
Printer Color and Your Custom Profile
Your custom printer profile defines the colorspace of your printer. Files converted to
the printer profile are converted to the printer profile to accurately reproduce in-gamut
colors. Out-of-gamut colors are brought inside the printer’s capabilities by different
rules, depending on the rendering intent selected (see
Choosing a Rendering Intent,
above).
Advanced Topic: SoftProofing
Accurately previewing on screen what your prints will look like with a particular
printer, colorant, and media is called SoftProofing. To learn more about SoftProofing,

SoftProofing Tutorial in the Help Index.
