Blanking (SG4-P)
Blanking is an auxiliary function of safety light curtains for which the introduction of an
opaque object inside parts of the light curtain's controlled area is allowed without stop-
ping the normal functioning of the machine. Blanking is only possible in the presence of
det
ermined safety conditions and in accordance with a configurable operating logic.
The blanking function is therefore particularly useful when light curtain's controlled
ar
ea must be inevitably intercepted by the material being worked or by a fixed or
mobile part of the machine.
In practice, it is possible to keep light curtain's
safety outputs in a normal operation con-
dition and the machine working, even if a pre-determined number of beams within the
c
ontrolled area is being intercepted.
The user can even connect a lamp (whose characteristics are reported in "
Technical
Data" on page 83
) to indicate that a blanking function is active.
The use of the lamp is not mandatory for a light curtain in blanking mode.
The lamp begins to blink in the following cases:
- the light curtain is in any fixed blanking mode
and the object is removed from the
blanked zone
- the light curtain is in floating mode with total surveillance and the dimension of the
t
aught object changes or the object is removed from the blanked zone.
CAUTION
If the AOPD is in Automatic Restart, the OSSD outputs remain on after the
end of the override.
