4 Using the management interfaces (the ME Storage Manager or CLI), verify the following:
• the health of the new disk is OK
• the green Disk Activity LED is on/blinking
• Ops panel states show no amber module faults
Replacing a blank drive carrier
A blank drive carrier module is removed from the enclosure by pulling the module out of the drive slot. A blank drive carrier module is
installed in the enclosure by properly aligning it and inserting it into the drive slot, followed by pushing it securely into place.
CAUTION
: To ensure optimal cooling throughout the enclosure, blank drive carrier modules must be tted to all unused drive
slots in 2U enclosures.
Replacing a drive in a drive carrier

: Replacement drives do not ship with a new drive carrier. The carrier needs to be transferred from the failed drive to the
replacement drive.

1 Remove the screws from the slide rails on the drive carrier.
2 Lift the physical drive out of the drive carrier.
