Add Storage Capacity
The system supports capacity expansion operations by adding new disks or disk shelves while the system is powered on. The
chapter contained in this part provides overview information and instructions to verify the system health before adding storage
to the system.

About this task
Verify the system is healthy and ready for expansion before proceeding with the upgrade procedure.
Steps
1. Log in as a sysadmin user.
2. Display the current alerts on the system.
Run the following command: alerts show current
# alerts show current
No active alerts.
3. Resolve all displayed alerts.
4. Run the filesys disable command to disable the file system.
Install and connect the new storage
Verify a license exists for the new capacity before attempting to add it to the system.
Complete the following tasks to add new storage capacity to the system.
Install the new disk shelves in the rack
NOTE: This task does not apply when adding a new disk pack to an existing DS60 shelf.
Complete the steps in Install the Disk Shelves in the Rack on page 30 to install a new disk shelf in the rack.
