Installing the system board
Prerequisites
If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.
NOTE: Replacing the system board removes any changes that you have made to the BIOS using the BIOS setup program.
Make the appropriate changes again after you replace the system board.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the system board and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.
Steps
1.
NOTE: Place the system board on a clean and flat surface.
Replace the ethernet and audio board, USB board, and fan and heat-sink assembly.
2. Turn the system board over.
CAUTION:
Before replacing the system board, ensure that the power button cable is routed below the USB
board. If the power button cable is not routed and connected properly, the computer will not power on.
3. Align the screw holes on the system board with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE: Align the system board with the positioning pins on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE: Align the heat sink to the top edge of the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
