Steps
1. Place the SSD extender on the SSD carrier.
2. Replace the (M2x2) screw to secure the M.2 2230 solid state drive into the SSD carrier.
3. Place the SSD carrier cover and flip the SSD carrier.
4. Replace the (M2x5) screw.
5. Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the M.2 slot and slide the SSD into the M.2 card slot on the chassis.
6. Pull the carrier latch to lock the SSD carrier.
7. Place the SSD door on the SSD carrier.
8. Replace the (M2x4) screw on the SSD door latch cover.
Next steps
1. Install the battery.
2. Follow the procedure in after working inside your computer.
3. Verify if the storage device is installed correctly:
a. Turn on or restart your computer.
b. Press F2 when the Dell logo is displayed on the screen to enter the system setup (BIOS) program.
NOTE: A list of storage devices are displayed under the System Information in the General group.
c. If you have replaced the primary storage device that had the operating system that is installed, see Reinstall Windows
to the Dell factory image using recovery media in the knowledge base article 000176966.
