9. (Optional) As needed, view and change the IPv6 source IP address selection policy. See Show
and update the IPv6 source IP address policy table.

1. Set the operating mode of the Ethernet interface to lan.

2. Assign the desired IPv6 LANinstance to the Ethernet interface.

3. Select the operating mode for the LAN interface:
n slaac: The LANinterface uses the RA server to send RA messages.
n dhcpv6: The LANinterface uses the DHCPv6 server.
n slaac_dhcpv6: The LANinterface uses both the RA server and the DHCPv6 server.

4. (Optional) Specify the subnet ID. This value is appended to delegated prefixes and then
assigned to the LAN interface. The default is the IPv6 LAN instance number.

5. (Optional) Enter the length of the subnet ID. This length is added to delegated prefixes when
creating the subnetted prefix. The default is 8.

6. (Optional) If you set the LAN interface operating mode to dhcpv6 or slaac_dhcpv6, configure
the preference value to advertise to DHCPv6 server instances associated with the ipv6_lan
instance. The instance number (in this example, 2) should be the same as the ipv6_lan
instance number.
