Overview

This document outlines the maintenance procedures for the FireCR Veterinary Dental Cassette Kit, a component designed to support multi-imaging plates on a moving plate. The kit is manufactured by Digiray Corp. and is intended for use in veterinary dental radiography.

Function Description

The FireCR Veterinary Dental Cassette Kit serves as a holder for various sizes of imaging plates used in veterinary dental X-ray systems. It facilitates the proper positioning and handling of these plates during the imaging process and subsequent cleaning. The cassette is designed to accommodate multiple imaging plate sizes, ensuring versatility for different dental imaging needs.

Important Technical Specifications

The cassette supports the following imaging plate sizes, with the quantity of each size marked on the moving plate:

  • Size 0: 22x31 mm (2 pieces)
  • Size 1: 24x40 mm (2 pieces)
  • Size 2: 31x41 mm (4 pieces)
  • Size 3: 27x54 mm (2 pieces)
  • Size 4c: 48x54 mm (2 pieces)
  • Size 4: 76x57 mm (1 piece)

The device is intended to be grounded, and its power cord is equipped with three-prong plugs for proper grounding. It contains static-sensitive components, requiring proper static handling procedures during servicing.

Usage Features

The cassette is designed for ease of use in a clinical setting. To release the moving plate from the cassette, there are two buttons on each side of the cassette. These buttons must be pressed simultaneously using the Cassette Lock Releaser tool. The cassette should be stood on its side when pressing the buttons to ensure both are fully engaged.

When inserting the moving plate back into the cassette, it is crucial to ensure that the imaging plate is not upside down and is inserted in the correct direction. Leaning the moving plate during insertion can scratch the imaging plate. The cassette should always be carried with the slot side up to prevent damage.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning of the imaging plates is crucial to prevent dust and dirt accumulation, which can lead to image artifacts. The manual emphasizes the importance of protecting the investment in imaging plates through proper maintenance.

Cleaning Tools:

  • Moving plate extracting tool
  • Imaging plate cleaner (ethanol-based, >99.5% ethanol recommended)
  • Soft, lint-free, dry cotton (non-abrasive cloth)

Cleaning Process:

  1. Moving Plate Pull Out:
    • Identify the two buttons on each side of the cassette for unlocking the moving plate.
    • Use the Cassette Lock Releaser tool to press these buttons while the cassette is stood on its side. Ensure both buttons are pressed firmly.
    • Hook and pull the moving plate out using the extracting tool.
  2. Cleaning Process:
    • Initially, clean the imaging plate surface using dry cleaning cloths.
    • For stubborn stains, use ethanol-dampened cleaning cloths.
    • After using ethanol, lightly wipe the surface with dry cloths.
    • Important Warnings:
      • Do not pour ethanol directly onto the imaging plate.
      • Ensure the imaging plate surface is completely dry before use.
      • Avoid scratching the imaging plate with fingernails.
      • Never use erasures or other solvents.
      • Do not use hand lotions or sunblock cosmetics before handling the plate.
      • Do not bend or crack the imaging plate.
      • Do not stack other objects on the imaging plate.
      • Do not expose the imaging plate to direct ultraviolet rays.
  3. Insert Moving Plate:
    • Stand the cassette on its side and press the buttons with the Cassette Lock Releaser.
    • Ensure both buttons remain pressed firmly.
    • Insert the moving plate into the cassette, making sure it is not upside down or in the wrong direction. Avoid leaning the plate during insertion to prevent scratches.

Service Life: Imaging plates should be replaced if they exhibit scratches on the protective layer that appear on the image, or if the phosphor layer has peeled away from the support layer.

General Safety Guidelines:

  • Only qualified and trained personnel should install, service, and operate the device.
  • The device contains no user-serviceable parts internally. Opening and servicing should only be performed by qualified service personnel.
  • Spilling liquids on the device or operating it in a wet environment is prohibited.
  • Keep the device away from radiators and heat sources.
