Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the Dimplex Control Hub and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The provided document is a setup guide for the Dimplex Hub, a device designed to facilitate control over Dimplex heating and ventilation products. This hub acts as a central control unit, enabling remote management of compatible Dimplex panel heaters, storage heaters, and hot water cylinders through a dedicated app.

Function Description

The Dimplex Hub serves as the bridge between your Dimplex heating appliances and the Dimplex Control app on your smart device. Its primary function is to allow users to remotely control and monitor their Dimplex products, offering features such as setting automatic timer modes and managing appliance operations. The hub connects to your home network via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, and it communicates with the Dimplex Control app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once set up, users can register an account, log in, and use the app's "Setup Wizard" to configure their hub and connected appliances. The hub is designed to provide system backup in the event of a power loss, thanks to its internal rechargeable battery.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Connectivity: The Dimplex Hub supports 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi (b/g/n) with WEP and WPA2 security. It can also be connected via a 1.5m Ethernet cable to a wireless router or network switch.
  • Power: The hub is powered by an included 1m AC/DC power adapter. It also contains a rechargeable battery for system backup.
  • Operating Environment: The Dimplex Hub should only be operated in environments where the temperature is between 0°C and 40°C (32° to 104°F).
  • App Compatibility: Requires a compatible iOS or Android device for the Dimplex Control app. The app needs an active internet connection to function.
  • Wi-Fi Security: The Dimplex Hub will only connect to password-secured Wi-Fi networks and will not connect to 'open' networks for security reasons. If setting up via Wi-Fi on iOS, ensure the device is connected to the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect the Dimplex Hub to, as the app will only list currently connected Wi-Fi networks.
  • Power Adapter: Only the power adapter supplied with the product should be used. Use of third-party power adapters may damage or destroy the product.

Usage Features

  • Remote Control: The Dimplex Hub, in conjunction with the Dimplex Control app, facilitates remote control of supported Dimplex panel heaters, storage heaters, and hot water cylinders.
  • Automatic Timer Modes: Users can observe all appliance safety warnings and precautions when operating these appliances remotely or on automatic timer modes.
  • Setup Wizard: The app includes a "Setup Wizard" to guide users through the process of configuring their hub.
  • Flexible Connection: Users have the option to connect the hub via Ethernet for a wired connection or via Wi-Fi for wireless convenience.
  • Account Management: The app allows new users to register and create an account, and existing users to log in to manage their devices.
  • Battery Backup: The integrated rechargeable battery provides system backup in case of a power outage, ensuring continuous operation or data retention.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Installation & Replacement: The guide provides instructions for inserting the battery into the rear of the hub. It also includes a warning regarding battery safety, emphasizing that the battery used in the product may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Batteries may explode if damaged. Users are advised to dispose of batteries according to local regulations and to contact the manufacturer's approved service agent for guidance on battery replacement. It is important to ensure the power adapter is disconnected from the electricity supply before installing or replacing the battery.
  • Cleaning: The device should be cleaned by disconnecting the power supply and other cables. A soft, lint-free cloth should be used to clean the enclosure. Abrasive cleaning powders or furniture polish should not be used, as they can damage the surface finish. Care should be taken to avoid getting moisture into openings.
  • Troubleshooting: The guide offers troubleshooting tips for common issues, such as ensuring an active internet connection, verifying Wi-Fi settings (especially for 5Ghz routers), and addressing Bluetooth connectivity problems with iOS/Android devices during setup. If issues persist, users are directed to contact Dimplex support.
  • Recycling: At the end of its service life, the product must be recycled.
  • Servicing and Repairs: Servicing and product repairs should only be undertaken by manufacturers approved service agents or similarly trained and qualified personnel, using only manufacturer-approved spare parts.
  • Safety Warnings: The manual includes several safety warnings, such as keeping the battery out of reach of children, proper disposal of packaging to avoid choking hazards, and warnings against exposing the product to liquids, disassembling it, dropping it, or exposing it to extreme temperatures. It also advises against using the product outdoors or exposing it to rain, moisture, or other liquids.
  • Product Safety: The package contains small parts that may be hazardous to children. Users should always store the product and packaging out of reach of children. Users should never try to dismantle the product, or push objects of any kind into the product, as this may cause short circuits which could result in a fire or electric shock. The product is only suitable for normal domestic household purposes and should not be used in any other type of environment.
  • Warranty: Dimplex products deliver reliable service for normal, household use in domestic settings. All Dimplex products are individually tested before leaving the factory. The Dimplex Warranty Period is three calendar years from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defective materials or workmanship but excludes losses due to lack of connectivity, damage from faulty materials or workmanship occurring outside the three-year warranty period, damage to the battery supplied with the product, damage from pre-owned Dimplex product or other equipment, accidental damage from external sources (e.g., transit, weather, electrical outages), or damage from non-domestic household purposes.
