JT920/JT920L - MAINTENANCE 133
GENERAL COMPONENTS
Radiator
Check radiator for dirt, grass, and other foreign matter every 25
hours. Check more often if operating in dusty or grassy
conditions.
Clean out with compressed air or spray wash every 50 hours. Be
careful not to damage fins with high pressure air or water.
Check coolant level every 10 hours. Add only pre-mixed heavy
duty low-silicate coolant containing Supplemental Coolant
Additives (SCAs) (p/n 255-006) or equivalent coolant meeting
ASTM specification D4985 and containing SCAs meeting John
Deere specification JDM H24A2.
Check SCA level yearly or every 600 hours using 3-Way Heavy
Duty Coolant Test Kit (p/n 256-032). If SCA levels do not fall
within appropriate range, attach tube to drain plug and empty
radiator. Refill with approved coolant (p/n 255-006).
IMPORTANT: Always check expiration date on 3-Way Heavy
Duty Coolant Test Kit. An expired kit will not give accurate
readings.
Flush cooling system and refill with
approved coolant (p/n 255-006) every
2 years or 2000 hours. See
lubrication and maintenance section
of engine operator’s manual for
complete coolant maintenance
information.
NOTICE: Do not use water or
automotive-type coolant. This will
lead to engine damage or premature
engine failure and void John Deere
engine warranty.
