Pull retainer 3 upward and slide the
battery out of its anchorage in the di-
rection of travel.
Fold the clip upward and remove the
battery from the battery recess.
Auxiliary battery* in the engine com-
partment
Disconnect the battery
(
page 577).
Unscrew the bolts preventing the
battery from moving around in the
engine compartment.
Remove the battery retainer and
take out the battery.
Recharge the removed battery. Ob-
serve the notes in the operating in-
structions for your battery charger.
Reinstall the battery in the reverse
order.
Recharging the battery
!CAUTION
Only charge the installed battery us-
ing a battery charger tested and ap-
proved by the manufacturer. These
devices allow you to charge the bat-
tery while it is installed. The vehicle’s
electronics system may otherwise be
damaged.
