Dodge B-I-B 1948 - ENGINE LUBRICATION; ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS

ENGINE LUBRICATION
1. ENGINE Oll-(Reflll capacity 5 qts.) Oil changes should be made - under
normal conditions-every 1,500 to 2,000 miles if average atmospheric
temperature is below + 32° F. and every 2,500 to 3,000 miles if the
average temperature is above +32° F. (For abnormal conditions see
page 14 .)
If it is anticipated that the atmospheric temperature will be :
Not
lower than + 32° f ...................... Use SAE 20 or No. 20 W
As low as + 1 0° F .....•....•...•.....•.••.. Use No. 20 W
As low as - 10° F .•. ........•...•.......... Use No. lOW
Below - 10 ° F . ......... . .•......•......... Use No. lOW blended
with 10% colorless re-
fined kerosene.

OIL LEVEl INDICATOR-Maintain oil level in oil pan above the "ADD OIL"
mark on the indicator. Do not add oil until the oil level approaches the
"ADD OIL" mark and never allow the oil level to drop below the "ADD
OIL"
mark.
EVERY 1,000 MILES
3. CARBURETOR AIR CLEANER-Under normal conditions the air cleaner should
