6.2 Assembly and preparation
6.2.1 Safety instructions
Docking, undocking, and moving the device
Incorrect docking or undocking can result in the device falling down. There is also a
risk of tipping over when the device is moved on the service cart.
The responsible personnel must be trained and appropriately instructed in handling
the device. Otherwise there is a risk of personal injury or property damage.
The device may only be docked, undocked, and moved by appropriately trained
personnel.
Inadvertent movement of the ceiling supply unit
Inadvertent movement or incorrect handling of the ceiling supply unit can trap
persons or objects and cause crushing in the case of persons. Personal injury or
property damage may result as a consequence.
Take particular care when moving a device which is coupled to the ceiling supply
unit.
Take care to keep your hands out of the space between the device and the
ceiling supply unit when docking and undocking.
Key switch
When the device is operated with a ceiling supply unit with key switch, the switch
must be in the horizontal position. The lifting functions of the ceiling supply unit will
not be available if the key switch is in the wrong position (diagonal or vertical).
Furthermore, this can lead to unintentional undocking of the device from the ceiling
supply unit. As a result, persons could be put at risk.
The key switch must be in the horizontal position.
Ensure that the key is removed from the key switch. Keep the key in a safe
place, e.g., on the service cart.
Accessories
If an accessory is fitted to the device which projects below the lowest point of the
anesthesia workstation, the accessory may strike objects or persons when the
ceiling supply unit is lowered. Personal injury or property damage may result as a
consequence.
Only fit accessories that maintain a distance of at least 12 cm (4.7 in) from the
floor when the anesthesia workstation is lowered to its lowest point.
Load
The product labels attached to the shelves and the drawer indicate the permissible
maximum load.
If the maximum total weight of the ceiling supply unit is exceeded, the load cannot
be supported. Personal injury or property damage may result as a consequence.
Refer to the instructions for use of the ceiling supply unit and observe the
maximum total weight.
In addition to the nominal weight and any other accessories (such as carrying
systems or monitors), these loads must be considered when calculating the total
weight.
