Function Description
The DUNE 4WD 120W Monocrystalline Solar Blanket is a portable power solution that converts sunlight into electricity to charge 12V batteries. It includes a 120W solar blanket, a 50Amp extension lead, and a 10Amp MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Solar Controller. The system is designed for ease of use and portability, allowing users to generate power in remote locations.
The MPPT Solar Controller is a key component, regulating the charging process to optimize efficiency and protect the battery. It is specifically designed for lead-acid battery types such as OPEN, AGM, and GEL. The controller features indicators for solar charging status (constant ON for charging, flickering for float charge), load output availability (constant ON), and battery connection detection.

Usage Features
Connection Procedure:
- Connect the MPPT Solar Controller to a battery using the provided 50Amp connector lead.
- Connect the Solar Blanket to the "SOLAR" labelled 50Amp Connector on the MPPT Solar Controller.
- To disconnect, reverse the order of these steps.
The controller has internal reverse polarity protection, but connection errors can still cause damage if the voltage and current exceed the rated range.
Indicators:
- Solar Indicator: Constantly ON indicates charging; flickering indicates float charge.
- Load Indicator: Constantly ON indicates output to load is available.
- Battery Indicator: ON when a battery is connected and detected by the controller.
Safety Guidelines:
- Only trained and capable individuals should operate this equipment.
- The appliance is not intended for use by individuals with reduced physical or mental capabilities, or those under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Ensure the solar blanket, MPPT controller, and battery are kept away from liquids.
- Do NOT use the solar blanket to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- The MPPT controller is only suitable for regulating solar modules and should not be used for other purposes.
- Never connect another charging source to the MPPT controller.
- Never tamper with or disassemble any component of the solar blanket, regulator, or wiring, as this will void the warranty.
- Always ensure the battery is installed in a well-ventilated area, away from potential ignition sources. Smoking or open flames near the charging battery are strictly prohibited.
Maintenance Features
Regular Cleaning:
- Keep the solar blanket and MPPT controller clean at all times.
- Before connecting, inspect connectors for grit or debris that could affect performance.
Proper Storage:
- Always store the solar blanket neatly in its bag.
- Protect it from weather conditions.
- Ensure it is well-ventilated during storage to prevent damage.
Transport Safety:
- Take precautions to prevent sharp or heavy objects from damaging the solar blanket during transport or storage.
Troubleshooting:
- All indicators OFF: Check battery wiring and voltage.
- No charge during daytime: Examine PV and battery wires for secure connections and loose wiring.
- No power voltage showing: Check battery voltage (load starts above 12.2V); connect solar module and allow 3-5 hours for battery to return to normal state.
- Other issues: Check all wiring connections for tightness; verify the system correctly identifies 12V or 24V system.
