Function Description

The ES-1M DRO Counter offers a wide array of functions, categorized as follows:

1. Basic Functions:

Set Display to Zero: Allows the operator to set the current position for a specific axis to zero.

Enter Dimensions: Facilitates entering specific dimensions for an axis.
Resolution Display Switches: Provides options to switch between 0.005 / 0.01 resolution displays.
ABS/INC Coordinates Display Switches: Allows toggling between absolute (ABS) and incremental (INC) coordinate displays. ABS coordinates refer to the work piece datum (work piece zero position), while INC coordinates are for relative position machining. The work piece datum is retained in ABS coordinate display even when switching to INC.

Find the Scale's REF Mark Position (FIND REF): This procedure involves selecting the REF function, moving the machine to find the REF mark, and then recalling the REF mark position.
Recall the Work Datum Zero (RECALL 0): This function allows the recovery of the work piece datum if it is lost for any reason, by recalling the RECALL 0 function.

3. 199 SubDatum Function:

Function: This feature provides 199 sub-datums (SDM) for memory, allowing the operator to set and store multiple work co-ordinates (ABS/INC). This is beneficial for repetitive machining tasks, as it eliminates the need to re-establish the work piece datum using an edge finder or other methods.
Application Example: The manual illustrates setting up four sub-datums (SDM 1 to SDM 4) and moving the machine to the required sub-datum position. It also describes direct keying in the SDM zero position co-ordinates.
