Repeater Protocol Devices
Repeater protocol devices are: Panel repeater (Loop mounted), LED repeater, CIOP 4/ 8 & CIOP
7273.
These devices, with the exception of the panel repeater, have a 2 stage programming process and
while there a subtle differences is the execution of programming the actual device the overall
methodology is the same:
1. Right Click on the device in Site Installer window.
2. From the dropdown box, select ‘Edit Repeater’
3. In new dialog box select the type of device you have from the ‘Repeater Type’ dropdown
4. Apply any rules and press OK
5. Take your PC to the field device and follow the programming process for that device.
6. To upload to the field device when required by the process, right click on the device in Site
Installer window and select ‘Send Repeater’
On a fresh panel download or when a repeater device is added, it will display a question mark ’?’ over
it. Once you have applied your rules it will disappear. The rules are NOT held in the Site Installer file
or the CDR in the panel, they are ONLY held within the field device itself. There is no need to upload
any programming for repeater protocol devices to the panel. If the program is subsequently
downloaded from the panel again, the question mark ‘?’ will re appear. It is good practice to keep a
note of the programming rules in each device.
Repeater Panels
Repeater panels can either be Loop connected taking one address in the number sequence, or, in
legacy systems, (Pre 2020) connected via the network, in which case the repeater will be fitted with a
Network card.
The loop repeater has functionality limited to sound/silence alarms or reset the system. The internal
buzzer can now be muted from the main or a networked panel (added Aug 2010)
The supervisor access code (2214) can be disabled or changed using the engineer menu (2132).
The Loop repeater must have the same text downloaded into it as the main panel to which it is
connected. The site installer needs to know what type of repeater is installed, which must be done
prior to programming the device. This is done by a right click on the device icon and choosing the
correct type of repeater device from the drop-down box. Fig 53.
The same download lead that is used to program the main panel is used for the repeater.

When ready to upload to the panel, right click the device again and choose ‘send repeater’
