1.7 Selection criteria
30 DA1 Variable Frequency Drives 11/16 MN04020005Z-EN www.eaton.com
1.7 Selection criteria
Select the variable frequency drive according to the supply voltage U
LN
of the
supply system and the rated operational current of the assigned motor.
The circuit type (
/
) of the motor must be selected according to the supply
voltage.
The variable frequency drive’s rated output current I
e
must be greater than or
equal to the rated motor current.
Figure 23:Selection criteria – Rating plate data
When selecting the drive, the following criteria must be known:
Mains voltage = motor supply voltage (e.g. 3~ 400 V),
Type of motor (e.g., three-phase asynchronous motor),
The rated motor current (recommended value – depends on the motor’s
configuration and on the power supply)
Ambient conditions: ambient temperature, control cabinet installation
with IP20 degree of protection or direct local installation with IP66
degree of protection.
Example based on figure 23
Mains voltage: 3~ 400 V, 50 Hz
Star-connected circuit (400 V)
Rated operational current: 1.9 A (400 V)
Control panel installation
IP20 degree of protection
Ambient air temperature max. 50 °C without output reduction, IP20
Variable frequency drive that should be selected: DA1-342D2FB-B20C
DA1-34…: 3-phase main terminal, rated operating voltage: 400 V
DA1-…2D2…: 2.2 A – The variable frequency drive’s rated operational
current (output current) guarantees that the motor will be supplied with
the required rated operational current (1.9 A).
